using force for police officers in UAE (United Arab Emerites ) allowe to use force

Recommended Posts

in my country using of non lethal force or lethal force in general depend in the situation of the suspect if he or she depend on the action

example A :

if the suspect have a firearm but he is in steady position or he or she didn't aim the gun at a cevilien or officer  / the officer should follow this steps according to our Federal law :

  1. to announce to the suspect that you are the police.
  2. tell the suspect to drop the weapon verbally and to surrender.
  3. you ask him for the second time verbally.
  4. in the third time you Waring him that you will use force.
  5. you shoot in the air then ask him again.
  6. if he or she refuse to follow officer order he shoot in not deadly place in the body.
  7. if he or she still have the weapon and refuse the officer warring him or her then shoot .
  8. lastly he have the right to kill him.

if the suspect make threat by aiming his firearm to a hostage or officer they can shoot him to prevent that threat.

Ours in the US is similar to this, minus the shooting in the air. They tend to go center mass instead. Lol, It's interesting to hear about your Nations law enforcement though. I'm always curious about how Police work in different parts of the world. Cool post.

I question the accuracy of this given it's dissimilarity from self-defence doctrine in most legal systems. What is your credential for this information?

this acording to UAE law

So it may differ from different departments but here from the state i am from in USA, I understand(i am not a police officer) when an officer draws is duty weapon he/she shoots to kill. They give demands to "drop weapons" and so on so fourth.

Lets say a certain situation is a cop arrives on scene and there is a suspect that has a weapon. I would like to hear from other agencies myself on how the polices work but where I am from I hear its a ASK, TELL, MAKE policy.

You ASK the suspect to "drop the weapon"

You TELL the suspect to "drop the weapon"

You MAKE the suspect "drop the weapon"

Now of course all situations are different. Sometimes I would say that a cop does not have time to ASK or TELL a suspect to drop a certain weapon. But instead they have to right off the bat MAKE the suspect drop it.

I dont believe that in USA cops use warning shots. Like I said, most of the time if the gun is drawn it used to protect the officer.

LSPDFR has kept me busy for about 539 hours of my life so far! Still can't create plugins 😛 Thanks for everyone's hard work on this!

Or to protect another person.  There have been plenty of case where officers have drawn their guns when their life wasn't in danger at all, but someone else's was.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Hate to be a pedant, but that's not quite correct. Police officers are trained to and are legally empowered to Shoot to Stop the Threat, NOT Shoot to Kill.

Out here (RU) police usually tries aiming at limbs before going lethal. I can't even think of any recent lethal shooting case... You kill someone = A LOT OF TROUBLE for the cop. Can end up fired.

P.S. yeah, local cops shoot and hit legs and arms, and actually shooting at an arm which holds a gun is a standard training exercise here. Road police are also trained to shoot the tires of a moving vehicle from the patrol car during the pursuit.

It'd be great if cops in the US could shoot at legs or arms but its not possible because the way armed suspects act in the US is a lot different from in Europe. Armed suspects in Europe are more likely to engage in standoffs whereas in the US, most uses of deadly force are on suspects that are acting quickly and aggressively, officers just don't have time to shoot for anything except center mass.

If cops in the US were trained to shoot at arms and legs, you'd end up with a lot more dead cops and a lot more dead bystanders.
