I'm looking to bump up my performance: mostly my FPS  with GTA V.  My current System info is in my signature. I know the talk has been had here many a times, but I wanted to see with my circumstances what y'all thought.

I will eventually upgrade both CPU and GPU, and my guess is that I would get better improvements by upgrading the CPU before the GPU, but I wanted to get the community's input on it as well.  Thanks, and your vote / suggestions are appreciated.

It all depends on what GPU you have already. I run SLI 2x GTX 1080 and can range from 80-145 FPS.

I have an i7-4770 @ 3.4ghz

well i used to have 22fps with amd Athlon x4 740 and amd radeon. I then upgraded my GPU to a 1060 with the same CPU I now have around 50-60fps

Thanks for all of your input! I was thinking the processor would be the better upgrade, but taking your experiences into account I will probably go for the GPU then.

May have to wait a little while since all the stupid bitcoin miners are driving the prices up...

Just curious, is there a Micro center in your area? You could probably find a decent priced GPU there.

That's a good idea that I din't really think of... I'll have to check in with them. Last time I walked by, I do remember seeing a 1070 in the window (which I would definitely settle for for the right price).
