If you have a mods folder, I didn't check, in a hurry, you can always, 50%, give the mods fodler fault.
A faulty car, siren, sound can fuck it up.

I do have a mods folder, but the only problems I've had after updating it is forgetting to replace the modded update.rpf with the new one. Once I do that I'm usually on my way.

Yep, after a new update you do need to replace it.
To determine if it's the mods folder or not, run the game with OpenIV.asi as the only installed ASI plugin. If it still crashes, then it's your mods folder, check meta's etc.

Yes. 

But outdated .asi files can corrupt your game as well, so always watch out for those.

So I've now put RPH, LSPDFR, Scripthook, sjaak's trainer, and my mods folder back in the directory. It's now working. Still have a few more things to add to figure out what caused it to crash.

 

As for the contents of my mod folder, it's just strictly car mods.

Incorrectly set up car mods are what normally cause the crashes in mods folders. Generally, with ELS, the only meta you need to mess with is vehicles.meta for some cars.

I am glad to hear it's all good again.

Start adding mods one by one, this may take ages, but at least you're on the safe side.

We have a culprit. Game runs fine without OpenIV.asi, but once I put it in the directory back to square one. I have the big CHP pack added on (not replacing any cars), so I'm wondering if that's the root cause.
