Does this light bar even exist?!

Featured Replies

Basically, this is racking my brain, that's all.

In a recent discussion among LSPDFR staff, we were talking about how cool rotator lights more, specifically the Federal Vision/Vector/Vision SL(R) bars.
Now .. This has been racking my brain, but I'd sworn I'd seen a light bar similar to a Vision SLR (1) but instead of a rotator inside the pod, it was a solid block/LED inside and it flashed. I could've sworn I saw it on an NYPD car in a video, but it was so long ago I can't even remember, and at this point I can't even tell if I saw a normal rotator and my brain is making up that it was a flashing LED in a pod.

So.. To any NY buddies or light bar enthusiasts, does this light bar I'm describing even exist??

(1) Federal Vision SL(R?), NYPD

(2) A variant of the Federal Vision rotator with a different thingo inside the pod, this isn't in any of the Federal Vision images, videos or demo's I've seen before so if someone can explain what the go here is, that'd be mad.

(3) The old Vision (Pre-SLR) smart rotators in pods, LVMPD (I think LVMPD still recycle and use these because they're broke)

Edit: An explanaition could be that there's a mode on the Vision SL that lets the rotators stop and just flash, but idk, I'd like confirmation on this. 7f0d00283bc3a2871e2b1e67b85c6b03.jpg.72fdbaa9cbeffffa1cb3f62911b7bf2f.jpg

I think that's a FedSig Vector you're thinking of - the newer LED model, not the older halogen rotator.

At least, according to Lt.Caine, but he's pretty indepth with his research.

if you are talking about the older style you would have to be thinking of the visionsl. NYPD has never used the vector family.

if you are talking specifically about the vision slr style, perhaps you just saw it with its secondary mode? the modules are stationary and flash blue in the rear and red in front.

i cant find a video of it with nypd, but this is basically it.

Spoiler

it wouldn't really matter, the only difference between the vision and vector is the vector is just plain rotators, while the vision had patterns and other capabilities like alley lights. and it is  basically the same with the visionsl and vectorsl.

The modules contain Solaris LED modules which were also seen in Federal Signal Arjent SL, Possibly original style Solaris modules since later Solaris modules were built onto the mainboard.

Luckily my Arjent SL has the original style so swapping out modules is a breeze. cannot be done on the Arjent S2.

Interesting stuff. You mean the modules inside the SL pods?

I figure the one I've been thinking about has been the Vision SL all along (I never knew it existed, I thought there was only the SLR), and the SLR is the popular rotator version.
Now I know that they're two separate models, the SL being the LED one and the SLR being the LED rotator one.

I'm glad that I've finally (possibly) found my answer but sad that no one's made one yet for GTA (There's an old Vision on a LVMPD car and SLR on some NYPD cars but no SL), maybe I'll commission someone good at modelling to make one so I can have it in my game :teehee: I don't know tho.

  • 3 months later...

I have a chance to buy a Vector SL this weekend for $75, Its all amber and the seller is throwing in a 3 pod mini Vector as well(amber also)

I believe the Vector SL was is a basic version compared to the Vision SL which uses a more featured control head to switch light patterns and stuff.

Im surprised to see an amber bar for for so cheap, but then again, it might seem to be too much for an average amber light user(person who needs it for their job)

Will keep this topic updated!

The NYPD Visions had all rotating pods in them.  The Vision SL models that came out later had stationary flashing LED pods, coupled with two clear rotating pods to the left and right of the frontmost pod.  The Vision SLR has rotating LED pods.  The NYPD SLR does have modes where only a two or so pods flash in a stationary position without rotating, however.  Maybe that's what you saw?
