I need your guy's help to make sure this build stays under 640 dollars while still keeping the i5 and the case, monitor.

Things to take note:

-parts must be from b&h, amazon,  newegg, best buy, ncix us

-PSU change must be 450w or more + be semi or fully modular and trustworthy so it won't blow up my computer

Thanks! :)

That build is only $40 extra.. Why not just add the extra $40 to it?

I don't see why you would have 16 GB or RAM with this kind of build? A little bit "too much" I think.

I personally do have 16GB of RAM but they're useful for my virtual machines, as I need some to work at home x)

Eyon / LeAerial

Playin' GTA since San Andreas !

LeAerial is right, you don't need 16GB of RAM with that build. Some games push the 8GB recommended mark but even so.

Also it's worth pointing out that is not an i5 build. Your processor is a Pentium G4560. That's a dual core (with hyper-threading).

But the game will run smoother on 16gb of ram even tho the game call for 8gb right? i saw something on that on YT you gain like 3 or 5 fps over the 8gb i went ahead and added 8gb extra of ram but i dnt know if i got n e gains never really looked into my fps

Not really no. Well, it depends on the rest of your system plus the game you're playing and what that game has to do.

If a game is recommending 8GB of RAM (recommended, not minimum to play) you'll not really see the benefits of getting 16GB. The recommended specs of a game usually mean what is recommended in order to play the game at high settings, 1080p at 60fps.

16GB or higher really isn't necessary for the average gamer, as a result 3-5fps for spending almost double the cost is 100% a waste of money. You'd be better putting that money into a savings and getting better cpu/gpu.

To be honest the only single player type game i've seen that benefits from more RAM than the reccommended specs is Cities Skylines. every other game i have seen/played doesn't use/benefit more with the extra RAM. (Cities is pretty much the only reason i have 32GB RAM in my system) - RAM may also be good with MP games (can't say for sure since i rarely play online games)

Plus RAM is easy to install, as long as you don't have a CPU cooler that covers the RAM slots. 8GB is fine for now. There is always that option to upgrade in the future if needed.
