Suggestions to improve the mod

Awesome mod, many thanks to the developers for their hard work and spending time to develop this. I however have a few suggestions which, to my mind, would improve the mod.

1. It seems all the calls are always fairly close to you, could this be a bit more random with the possibility of further away calls too?

2. Could you also make the calls come in at random times? Instead of them being pretty frequent all the time, they should be sporadic, so sometimes you're inundated with calls and other times there aren't many calls - things are nice and quiet allowing you to do some pro-active patrolling. I know there is an option to turn them off, but it would make things feel more realistic if this sort of thing was scripted in.

3. I would also like to see some more mundane (some of which can be non-immediate) calls added, such as:

Domestics

Noise nuisances (inside houses would be best, noisy parties for example, if not then make it loud music coming from a car, the music doesn't actually have to be present in the game though)

Disturbances (small scale e.g. large group of people causing a nuisance to motorists or people shouting/swearing/fighting)

At these calls you would simply dish out a warning or a ticket to those involved. Maybe make an arrest at a domestic, but that depends on the situation you choose to set-up.

Also maybe add some calls where all you do is turn up and press a button to note the details, you could also put in some random text to appear on the screen like the person's details you've just noted and a quick random summery of the crime you noted. So example, someone wants to report their phone as stolen/missing or wants to report someone as missing, you turn up and press whatever key to "Note details" and... that's it! It would make things more realistic, even if many people would ask what the point in that is. I work for the police and to fully simulate the experience there needs to be more mundane/non-immediate stuff.

Lastly, the option to dish out a ticket and ask to anyone on the street for their ID would be nice too!

Thanks for listening,

1. It seems all the calls are always fairly close to you, could this be a bit more random with the possibility of further away calls too? This has been answered plenty of times, we won't change the calls further away.

Not exactly sure about this one, but as far as i can remember it was said that this won't happen. I could be wrong though.

You can ticket people on the streets, but i have to agree. Asking for their ID would be nice!

Why won't the calls be made further away? I noticed it had been asked before I apologise. How do you ticket people on the street? Also I read somewhere that you can arrest people without aiming a gun at them, which gives you a longer arrest. However when I try this, the game keeps moaning at me with an error saying that I "need to aim at someone to arrest them".

As has been suggested elsewhere before, more options in pullovers would be excellent, even if there's no audio for some I don't think that really matters.

I'll give it a go, cheers. So why won't some calls be made a little further away?

I'm not sure what was the dev's answer last time, but i'll try searching it.

Edit: Got word from a dev:

"it's not getting done as it's unrealistic

i mean

you're not going to get a callout on the other side of the city

in real life"

I'm a copper and it's not unrealistic at all, granted you give attention to your own section first but you can attend incidents in other areas if no-one else is available or if more cars are needed, also calls aren't just around the corner or down the road in real life either! I don't mean stretch them out to the other islands, but at least more than 500 feet away all the time.

Liberty City is a heavily policed city. There's cops everywhere. Making callouts a distance away is a little unrealistic. We might in the future change the distance if we continue getting reports on this, but at the moment we don't plan any change to the distance.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Yeah but no place is really policed well enough to have an officer right around the corner from every incident. Also it will add to the experience allowing players to have longer blue light runs.

Sorry, we have no intention on extending the distance at the moment.

That's a shame. I hope you will reconsider in the future and have a better variety of distances. Sections/beats which an officer covers vary in sizes, they can be quite large which again means further away calls are absolutely not unrealistic. What language are you using to make the mod anyway? Also, if you need any advice regarding calls or options for arrests/traffic stops etc I'd be happy to help, although I work in Britain there aren't too many differences.

You may have noticed that sometimes the "shots fired" call is a little further away. We will perhaps extend the maximum range for all callouts, and for some callouts -- such as backup requests which we will implement soon -- we will extend the maximum distance quite considerably.

As Jay said though, Liberty City is heavily policed.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."
