Game Crash when spawning in vehicle

Featured Replies

Hello, as of very recently I have been experiencing a game crash when I spawn in one particular vehicle from one slot and is not limited to that one model, it seems to do with the one slot as I have tried different models so the model files are not corrupt. The slot I speak of is Sheriff2 slot. The crash usually happens a few seconds after I spawn in from the trainer or even going on duty the normal way or even if I get close to the vehicle. I have modded every other police and sheriff model and do not get this problem. I have replaced the model with the original files but have no luck there either. Would anyone know of any solutions or causes to the problem? I really dont want to mod my vehicles again if I have to as I have taken several man hours getting all my handling and config lines correct and sorted. I have also looked around on google and have found nothing to do with my problem. I will post my crash report if asked for. Help much appreciated

If it's on anmy model you put on that slot, I'd suspect it's an issue with a meta file for that slot. In my expience, if it's a model issue it will crash the game either on startup or spawning. Anything else tends to be a configuration issue.

although I have edited some meta files, I haven't altered any for the slot in question.

If it only does it for that vehicle and you havent change any handling, carvariation or vehicle meta for that slot. Still does it when you have replaced it back to the original it must be something you changed for it. Disable or remove the mod folder and start the game, call up that vehicle and see if it still does it.

Have done what you suggested but still same result, must be something else rather than my mods folder being the problem

If it helps anyone here is my ragehook crash report

Do you load your plugins (i.e more control) manually or do you have it set in RPH to auto start? If set to auto when loading RPH click the cog icon, that will being the setting for RPH. Select it to load with no plugins.

Check the file integrity not sure how you do this if you fone have Steam so you might want to google that.

Also try this:

Perhaps you accidentally modified the base game files? If the game still crashes despite removing the mod folder entirely, then the answer may be that you accidentally changed a vanilla game file. I've managed to accidentally modify a base file and did not realize it, had to re download the file I modified by deleting the file in question -- this prompts the R launcher to re download the missing files.

If you have the Rockstar version of the game and not Steam version, you can also verify the integrity of the game files by finding the GTALauncher.exe and right click it, in the properties tab put -verify. Alternatively in a commandline.txt file, put the same code, though this has not always worked for some people.

Well after the decision of doing a fresh install I have found out that its one of the config files which are causing the problem, as I put in all my scripts again, all is fine, put in my model files, all is fine then when I put in my config it aint fine, what is puzzling is another config is causing this as I have not altered any to do with that vehicle that im having a problem with, I just need to figure out which config file is the problem

Alright its now all fixed thanks for all your help, my config that caused it was vehiclelayouts from the Lenco Bearcat, as I wont be using it often I have taken the config out which allowed extra seats in the back of the van.
