GTA V Mid-Week Madness Steam Sale! (50%)

Featured Replies

This is not a discussion thread, but rather an information thread with the purpose of spreading the news to relevant users - Please don't bother replying, as I'll probably edit/delete this thread after the sale is over anyway! Thanks!

~~~~~~ This is not intended as an advertisement for Steam, just informing users waiting for a sale! ~~~~~~
Making this thread to inform any users that were waiting to buy GTA V cheap to play LSPDFR (These people exist, I was one of them!) that GTA V is now on for 50% off on the Steam mid-week madness sale. This is probably as good as you'll get for a while, unless you want to push your luck at the winter sales, but somehow GTA V has held it's value extremely well over the years and I can't see it going for much under 50% off.
It's now on for $37.49 USD instead of $74.99 USD until the 17th, as per picture.
I see it as $29.99, regular price $59.99 FYI. Regional pricing differences?
It's listed as $37.49 USD on sale and $74.99 USD for me in Australia too. Probably just us Australians being ripped off as usual.
This.. Hmm.. Interests me.. I always assumed it all showed as the same USD price for all countries to keep it consistent internationally, and the bank or paypal would sort out the converting..
Now I feel ripped off..
It probably comes down to this though:
Prices usually go up in Australia no matter what the item is to cover air shipping/freight but I mean.. There's nothing physical to bring over here?
Either Steam rips us off for no reason or the price covers the cost of server space in Australia if they use it, to make our downloads go a little faster (ha, doesn't work)  instead of having us connect all the way to the US.
Sorry for the language but... only shit, $75 for a dematerialized game? What the hell, Australia, on top of having every animal wanting to kill you, even the prices want your death Oo
That's $75 USD, which is just under $100 AUD; about the average we pay for a newly released game. Yeah we get ripped off hard. It's not just games either, I pay anywhere from $40 AUD to $70 AUD for my anime DVD/Blu-Rays too.
is that including the 10% tax that some people are charging now because of the government? i know i've been to a few sites, bought something for more than i should and got slapped with the 10% tax crap.
as for Steam games.. i just wait for sales now. the only time i really buy a game is if i actually want to play it. I don't even buy collectors edition version of games now since they're about $300. Arkham Knight was the last collectors edition game i bought.  Australia... land of the deadly animals, crappy internet and horrible prices...
That's crazy, I didn't know life was so expensive over there... I'm already struggling to buy games, and only when they're in sales, I couldn't imagine being a gamer in Australia... O_o
PC Gamers get it slightly cheaper if you go retail.. they're normally $10 cheaper than the console versions. but yes, it's expensive. on a plus side EB Games (Gamestop for US) tend to have sales all the time (actually.. i don't think i've seen them not have a sale) so things can get cheap.
JB Hi Fi still tends to be cheaper.
True.. although i tend to stay away from there since it's in town/CBD and well the amount of road works/constructions going on there it really backs up the traffic. so i just go to EB or.. spend that extra money and buy it on Steam (which is quite a lot. i've got no shelf room so physical copies i avoid at all cost).
To be honest the only reason i like Trump/the elections was the fact the stock markets went down which boosted the AUD for like 48 hours.. things were cheap so i used that advantage as much as i could.
I would use Steam more but for bigger games it's just not doable with shitty backwards internet. I can't download 60GBs. It'll take like 4 days of non-stop downloading.
really? Mine takes a day and a half. if many people are using the internet then it takes a lot longer. at a bout 1mb/s (my internet speeds up of a night since i'm the only person using it). it's been weird lately though since they're putting the NBN lines in.
Steam's always done this, I remember seeing a website not too long ago that showed the crazy price differences in different regions.
