Vehicle Overrides

Featured Replies

I just started modding my GTA ELFC today and I enjoy it. The one thing I want to do though, and this goes for a number of mods (and I understand this probably does more work) is how to have MORE cars, not just override all of the existing cars. I hope this makes sense since I want to install a number of car packs, yet not have them all keep overriding each other.

Any and all help would be much appreciated, and if there is an easy way to do this that would be great too!

Even adding car pack's HIGH POLY car's isn't the greatest idea, i really don't understand why people make car pack's and release them, more then likely, 90% of computer's can't handle it, your best bet is to backup files and override them, or it start's to get difficult, plus, once they crash your game, modder's that are just starting out want to go big then don't understand why there game doesn't work, trust me when i say, start small, add 1 or 2 car's, not a car pack UNLESS your confident your computer can handle it, cause guaranteed, the 1st time you install IV/EFLC, it most certainly will not be your last, i've read that some modder's can uninstall and reinstall up to 10 times a week, that's more then once a day and it can get frustrating sitting there for half an hour to an hour just uninstalling and reinstalling, i've been modding for a little over 2 years, and the most i've had to reinstall in 1 week, is 5 times.. seem's like i've spent more time reinstalling then playing..

sorry for the long story book, just want to make you aware of the risk's of modding..

That makes a bit of sense? What about ENB's and which one is the "best"? My computer is pretty powerful so shouldn't be a problem honestly. I did have to re-install 3 times now (just tryied adding Viva New York) and now it crashes on start-up. Or is crashing on startup a different problem?

I read up how to "add" new cars but it seems like a pain in the ass to go through a whole car pack and do it, but that's what I really want is a big variety of cars.

This is making me mad, every tutorial I find that tells you how to customize the things and add new cars forces my game to crash upon load. Is there a workable tutorial for EFLC to tell you exactly which documents to edit?

In my opinion, iCEnhancer is the best ENB that you can have, granted that you run it on version 1.0.4.0 of GTA IV, since that patch is the best performance-wise and graphics-wise (). Since you are playing on EFLC, you have less options since you cannot downgrade any further than to 1.1.0.0, but there are still some great alternatives. For example, Neolux's ENB mods are excellent, and are even specially-taylored to work with ELS, generating nice effects for it. If you wait a while longer, iCEnhancer 2.1 is said to be compatible with all versions of GTA IV and ELFC, and is scheduled to be released in the coming weeks.

I wouldn't bother adding even more vehicles into the game then how much it already has. Seeing how unoptimized GTA IV and EFLC are for the computer, it will cause more hassle and trouble to get them to work than to acutally enjoy seeing the variety in the game. Same goes for car packs, as the high-poly vehicles really take up much resources, since GTA IV and EFLC weren't designed to handle them. Don't get me wrong, I have a powerful system that can run these mods without a hiccup. But even I would stay away from car packs and additional cars. However, they're not worth the trouble in my opinion, and it is better to just use the slots the game gives you, if you truely want to customize the cars in the game.

Otherwise, I don't see a problem witht he current method that allows you to add new vehicles into the game. I think you are also able to add them directly into vehicles.img, provided that you also add corresponding values and settings for them in the carcols.dat, cargrp.dat, vehicles.ide, vehOff.xml, and so on. Those are the main files I would look at and edit when trying to add in new vehicles into the game. If you are going to use the method that's provided here, then you should make the necessary changes to the provided files.

Hope this information helps!

Don't overload your game with mods, that's what i tried telling you, or your game will just crash on you constantly. there are tutorial's all over the place bro.
