I personally don't agree with this, if that was the case places like forzamotorsport and gtaforum and all that would be down just as much and facebook would never be up. I think G17 media need to invest some money into decent ddos protection(plenty of options out there).

But like moose said none of our business.

...That's the thing. We don't have a lot of money. our DDoS protection right now is the best we can afford. Our site is ran out of pocket by Cyan and Sam. everything here is free the only income we get is via donations (which isn't a lot). Honestly our protection is great, our site is still active during an attack before if we were attacked the site would be offline for hours.

LOL mate I know its friday arvo, but dont drunkpost. Ads all over the place, repeated website changes to try and make the ads stand out more, but no the only income is donations (you're probably right about them being not a lot - cause who wants to donate money for abandonware?). As for the site being active during an attack.... lol no, wrong again. It's gotten so bad lately the running joke on discord is "time for lcpdfr.com's hourly maintenance again".

I'd hate to say this, ads?

We already have ads. Although most people use adblock (unless they're kind enough to whitelist it from our site).

Our revenue comes from donations or from our store. and the money from that wouldn't entirely go towards a DDoS protection, it will have to be put towards the domain itself (so the site stays up), servers and what not.

However like i said before the DDoS protection is a lot better than it was a few years ago. before even the littlest attacks took our site down. Now our site can function properly. The only time it takes a beating is if a major attack happens.

That being said We only have one person who handles the technical side of our site which is Cyan. So if the site goes down we can't always bring it back up instantly as it's just not possible. None of the staff are here full time, we all have lives, jobs etc. So we can't always keep watch over the site. We would love to have full protection and not that the site go down ever, but with the amount of money we have it's not at all possible.

If the site is as high traffic as pgup says the ad rev should be more than enough to cover server and security costs but I dunno we would have to know the exact income from the ads and I know that information will never be released.

Eitherway I still think some more ddos protection is needed.

In the words of a rich wise man, "Moose your models are rushed".

The rich wise man previously spent three years making a product, to later be rushed to release.

It's no where near finished it's an alpha version so I can fix and remove all the bugs now while it's in it's early stages
