Wouldn't get a VE. Had one for about 3 years, driving home from work one day, check engine light came on. Gave me about... 600m then the engine died. Heard of it happening a few times, apparently they just don't go like they used to. (the old Holden taxi engine)

Got a Toyota Kluger now and I've done about 250,000km since 2010 and it's going like a pro.

series 1 (LLT engine) or 2010+/ series 2 (LFX engine + SIDI)?

I heard series 2 was pretty good, and fixed most things that were just horrible with the early VE's. I wouldn't touch say a 2007/8/9 VE, that's too close to VZ, and VZ was a fucked car.

My my only other options (preferences..) for a car were a Hilux or a Navara, both use common rail Diesel engines, so the injectors go with no warning and even with frequent maintenance, the idea that Nav's were lemons and Lux's were solid was bullshit because they suffer from the same issues.

When the injectors go (people were experiencing this as early into their new Nav/Lux's life as 20xxxkm and 60xxxkm, imagine them second hand at 150-200xxxkm) you're up for about $3k or more for the injector set plus another $2-3k in labour. Didn't seem worth it to be to get a small loan out to buy a 2005 or later Hilux at $22k+ to have it die, so I decided to fall back on a cheaper and old plan of buying a later model commodore with no loan, about $15k.

They don't make them like they used to, boys... No later model car is reliable.

You should be right, haha, the worst thing I've read through the VEII customer reviews about so far is how annoying the pillars are for a blind spot and plastic bits and knobs falling off, and Kyben's experience if his was series 2.

If you can find a s1 that has the timing chain work completely done it wouldnt be too bad

+ blindspots. blindspots everywhere

Well the only thing that I reckon would knock me back is my eye sight I can't see words from a far distance but hey glasses will fix that? I am 17 always wanted to be a cop since year4 about 2009 I am about to go for my red ps and than up here you have to waist a year before going for green so I am covered in that area ( just have to pass) the only thing I am concerned is my memory for exams.

I also have been watching Recruits and Beach cops

I'm in the process of applying for the NSWPF, I have completed the PEE (entrance exam) and about to finish off the UCWE. If you have any questions feel free to slide in my dms.

In terms of eye sight, when you are called in for a general medical you are tested and scored on two things, 1) without glasses (uncorrected vision) and 2) with glasses (corrected vision). You need to meet the minimum score for uncorrected vision, I can't remember off the top of my head what that score is but basically you can't be as blind as a bat.

If you need to wear glasses you will have to go to an optometrist for further evaluation, this is done in addition to the general medical. If you decide to get glasses make sure the lenses are made from polycarbonate material, they're practically bullet proof and is a must according to NSWPF policy.

TV shows like beach cops and highway patrol incorrectly depicts what real policing is, make sure you talk to police officers before pursuing a career in policing.

Been enjoying Forza Horizon 3 waay to much that I haven't been bothered to redo my Australian mods folder... I probably should seeing Haloween is fast approaching and I need to record a channel anniversary/haloween patrol.

Here are some screenshots i've taken in the game:

Teaser images: (definitely not enticing you to click on the album to see the full res versions)

Amazing game, I get absolutely horrid stutters and micro stutters though, making the game virtually unplayable. Not sure what it is, can't be too high of settings because it happens on low graphics settings too.
FPS count doesn't drop when I experience the stutters, which is weird..

Was told it could be RAM latency, but mine is 15-15-15-35, better than the 3400MHz RAM cards which all have something like 18-16-16-36. Still yet to burn memtest to a disk and see if one of the sticks is bad or some shit..  I think it comes down to poor optimisation, being a straight port from Xbone, but not everyone experiences it so.. It's frustrating me to say the least.

I was worried that I hadn't wasted my money, because i've been hearing stuff like that. Some people say that their stutter issues are gone, others say it isn't. I only rarely get stutters, and its gone in a second. Guess I got lucky there.

My PC also doesn't quite meet the requirements, mainly my GPU. Fortunately it runs at average 40-60 FPS depending on where I am in the map on mid-low settings (which still looks great I must say), and sometimes 35FPS in races with other cars (which is completely playable for me, i'm used to lower frames).

I'm thinking of joining the Police force here in QLD once I'm done with highschool. I just hope the patrol cars aren't hatchbacks by then.

my CPU isnt up to scratch with it and its fucking horrible for me. Medium settings I get massive fps spikes where it goes from 20 to 50 and back to 30 or something. I had to turn vsync on to reduce it a bit but it still gives me a headache. Have their been any updates for it? I stopped playing after the first update

Not sure, only got the game on Tuesday, but apparently there was a big performance update but that might be the one you're referring to.

There's been two updates that I've seen, first one didnt really do much, second one screwed with OBS.... maybe it did more but thats all I've noticed :P

On Forza and it's shitty performance....

It seems, much like ArmA, a game notorious for a shit engine, the better CPU you have, the less you'll feel it - unless you're lucky enough to be running a shitty CPU and still don't see stutters and all that shit, in which case buy a lotto ticket.

Evidence: my mate with a 6700k gets stutters but only in built up areas.

Moral to the story: go blow $1200 on an i7 6900k to make up for the fact game developers are getting lazy with optimisation.

-----

havent necessarily seen my game update, but because it's a Microsoft thing, they always do that shit in the background so it probably has, but last time I played a week or two ago it was still running like trash.

I basically can't bring myself to play with all the stutters right now, and it makes me sad.. Maybe I wasted $140.

On that lazy developer thing, they decided not to let you have a custom wheel setup, unless you own one of the like 10 wheels they chose to support, you can't use a wheel. And it's not like I use a Chinese eBay wheel, I use the Logitech DFGT, one of the most popular budget wheels out there.

Maybe in anticipation of Moose sending out his dog squad ute!
