On the topic of interstate stuff, drove down to Melbourne this last week. @Macgregor, you guys suffering a bit of a shortage on cops? I drove about 2200km over the week, 1400 of those in vic. Saw a total of one cop car and it was coming for me (came across a car rollover on the Monash fwy, typical me - always coming across work while on holidays). Other than that, nada.

In the 800km or so of nsw, highway cars the whole way down - at least 5 of them.  Nothing on the way back. Interesting to see they've started hiding again, even got a bit creative with where they were - up hills off to the side of the road, bushes in the middle, behind signs...

It's the same story when we drive down to Victoria.

Last time we went I could have sworn I saw a territory with HWP markings on it, which I assume was a CIU sitting in the medium of the hume. It was only about 15 min out of Sydney I think, and about 500 metres down the road an actual highway car. Maybe some sort of tag team effort? IDK it was weird... It was also about 4 in the morning so some of those details mightn't be accurate but i'm almost positive it was a territory.

The best part was seeing a red P plater fly past at 140 km/h, to later see him pulled over about 20 minutes later. So satisfying!

Haha thats awesome, do you know what it's for? I noticed it just says police instead of highway patrol, but its still got TRF callsigns.

It was in the wall to wall ride last month along with their giant Dodge Ram thing and a few other promo vehicles.

Around 45 seconds in:

I know you said that as a joke but you're not actually that far from the truth. Since the policy came in that all officers (except the ones in rural stations) had to patrol 2 up all the time, they've had less cars out on the road, and hwp seem to be the most affected

If you don't read my readme files don't inbox me asking for help

Was only half meant as a joke actually - the fact I didn't even see a GD's car out was a bit concerning to say the least, especially floating around the CBD. Maybe they just snuck by and I didn't notice 'em but it just seemed really sparse. Even the HWP car coming to the rollover was last - got there after the firies and ambos.

Speaking of - I also discovered that Victorian's can't give way to emergency vehicles for the life of them. Driving along Point Nepean Rd down in Mornington, one of the little MICA Paramedic Territories was coming along behind me bells and whistles. Almost no one pulled over so he had to ride the centre line.

Better yet, I pull over, the guy behind me swings out in to oncoming traffic, cutting the paramedic off to overtake me... then fails to yield for a good 50m until the road splits in to two lanes for an intersection. Seemed to be the same deal when the HWP car was coming along the other side of the Monash fwy before he turned around - people just sort of slow down but don't actually move.

In the ACT at least people move, even if it's in a retarded and erratic fashion.

Edit: Prime example from Victoria, obviously not filmed by me.

I must say those divvy vans are sexy af. We had a few up here as K9 and Paddy wagon years ago but they got rid of them for some stupid reason.

Yeah, much better looking than the VW vans and I imagine a lot easier to get uncooperative people in to given the lower profile, rather than having to lift people in to the Hilux pod you're working closer to ground level.

If you've ever got a problem getting someone into a Hilux pod, simply look around and make sure no one is looking and maybe accidentally slam the door on the perps head :whistling:
