Crash On Start-up

This seems to be a common problem, as I have ran across it in a few threads while troubleshooting, but is not the subject of any threads from what I can tell. GTA 5 is loading perfectly on its own. When I try to open with Ragehook, as soon as the game window opens, before loading, I get "GTA V HAS STOPPED WORKING." My game is set to load with no plugins, and my Script Hook, Ragehook, and Update folders are all current. I have also used Albo's troubleshooter with no problems. I hate starting a new thread, as I almost always find the fix in a recent thread, but I have exhausted this one on my end. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, I had this issue too until I went into my RPH settings and disabled directx hook and then that allowed me to load in properly. Now I am stuck on the issue where I can't go on duty without LSPDFR crashing.. Hope that helps you at least get in game

Also try just running it straight from rage plugin hook, don't load it through steam. All my issues are fixed and I am playing again

Have you updated all of the scripts that have updated since the update came out?  I had several that were crashing my game.  GTAcomesalive was one of them. Also some of the much older scripts like MorecontrolV may or may not be compatible with 0.39/757.4  I am far from an expert on all this stuff but temporarily removing some of those scripts while awaiting the creators to have time to update as necessary fixed my game.

Also if you have modded vehicles, I had to reinstall all of mine, once I dumped my old "Mods" folder the game loaded right up.

One other thing I have found that helps me with little crashes is to go in to the GTAV main folder and delete any old logfiles (anything ending with .log I have made quick changes and have the game crash to desktop on the next startup, I go in delete all those logfiles and the game works flawless with the new changes.  Not sure why that helps, but it does.

I tried this as a suggestion from another thread with no change. I also have the retail version, not steam. Thanks for the suggestion though!

If you crash at startup, open OpenIV and click on a folder. It should tell you to update "update.rpf". You update that and you will not crash at startup

As I said originally, my update folder is current. Thanks for the tip though!

.I have my RPH set to load with no plugins initially. Would I still need to go in and remove the older scripts? I have everything updated as of what's out today. And I do have modded vehicles, but didn't figure that would cause this. Did you find that your modded vehicles were preventing the game from even launching?

Yes, My game would instant crash before I deleted it.  I never got my update folder to say it needed updating within OpenIV either. But there was definitely a problem.  Try this, Drag your "MODS" folder if you use it to your desktop first. Let it completely copy over so all your original changes are saved. Then delete the mods folder from the GTAV folder.  See if your game launches. I bet it will. If something else is still outdated though, you may still get other crashes.

Funny you should say that, I was just adding to my reply that I had already tried exactly that earlier. Which is what led me to believe that the mods folder was not causing my problem.

Hmm, can you post a screen shot of your GTAV folder and your Plugins folders? I could compare them to mine and see if anything obvious stands out maybe?

You did catch the updated version of LSPDFR right?  It's still 0.3.1 but there was some sort of compatibility update that was released on Friday.

I don't know how I missed LSPDFR updating. I guess it wasn't as big as 0.3 so I never thought to check to see if it updated. I updated it though, and that did not change anything. Here are my screenshots:

Also, I just tried moving all of my plugins to the desktop and launching RPH. No change.

Ok, I already see a few things missing, I do not see the installer file for Social club? Mine is in a folder called installers. DId you try and revert back to .678 or older before everything was updated? I also don't have the RPH revert to 573.exe folder. Here are my screen shots.

Delete everything in your logs folder, then go down list in main GTAV folder and delete anything ending with .LOG this includes all those minicrashreport files.

We may have to do a clean reinstall of ragehook, something does not look right compared to mine.

SOLVED

I don't know what made me think of it... but just flipping through different settings... I right clicked on RPH and went to properties. I set it to run in Compatibility Mode for Windows 8 and launched it. It worked!! I have no clue why, as I've been on Windows 10 for as long as I've been playing this game! Maybe there was some sort of update with Windows or the graphics that caused an issue. Hopefully someone can get to the bottom of it, but for now I'm up and running. Thank you for all of your help though!!

You shouldn't have to do that though.  Looking thru all your files, I don't think ragehook installed correctly. All my ragehook files are dated 6/10/2016 but some of  yours are dated 11/22/2015.

I am glad that fixed it, but you may want to do a clean install of ragehook.

I actually already tried that earlier also. All of the files I see dated 11/22/2015 are game files, which I believe is the day I installed GTA V.

when you start the game it does load up 757.4 version correct? Are you missing the latest  GTAV update? Its weird that I don't see the installer file for Social club and a few other things that are in my game. Something somewhere did not update correctly. Im just not sure which part. Maybe try verifying your game files thru Steam?  Actually is this a Steam game or Retail copy?

If you have teamviewer, Ii could maybe try and give you a hand that way. PM if your interested?

I definitely went through the update. The game launched alone, as well as RPH are launching the same and correctly now. I don't ever remember seeing Social Club files, and no this is the retail version.

There is a folder in mine called SDK, its part of ragehook. It is missing from your game folder. Also the licenses folder which is part of ragehook is showing a different older date then mine is.  I am wondering if something didn't copy over when you updated ragehook.

Also try deleting anything ending in .LOG in the LOGS folder and main GTA V folder, Also all of the Mini crash report.rcr files. I have had my game crash to desktop before and clearing all those out have fixed it.

Otherwise you may just have to leave it as is, with the compatibility settings on. Short of reinstalling the whole game, I am not sure what else could be causing the issues.

The readme for RPH specifically says not to copy the SDK or licenses folder. If I have a licenses folder, that's probably just from when I was first starting out and accidentally copied it over. It does not affect RPH function.

And I deleted those LOG files earlier this evening when you first mentioned it.

Well shoot, How the heck did I miss that. I guess I will go and delete those folders now. and ok on logs, I forgot I had mentioned it.

This is actually beginning to bug me now, LOL... Everything I have told you to try is what fixed my game and I was getting the exact same result when I first updated everything.
