Honestly I believe that firetrucks should be allowed to push drivers out of the way if they deliberately block the vehicle.

Apparently they can in some areas in the United States but in many other countries the driver of the emergency vehicle would have to pay insurance or something. If they were to allow emergency vehicles like fire trucks and ambulances to "ram" other vehicles if the situation requires it, they'd probably want to fit some sort of pushbar on fire trucks and ambulances that wouldn't do any damage (other than scratches which are inevitable) to the vehicle being pushed.

Ah'm orderin' you to STAHP!

In a way they do respond like this - on highways they part in the middle even if you're in the left lane, and scoot over pretty quickly. Only exceptions are the trucks (still don't understand why they

Yeah insurance is definitely an issue, although, if you're blocking an emergency vehicle (on purpose), you should be charged for it. The driver of that green car just baffles me, he had room to move up but he just sat there even when the traffic-lights went green, and only moved when the truck went past him. Why would you do that? Seriously.

But surely it wouldn't take them that long to get their car started again, unless they had some sort of anxiety disorder and were fumbling with the keys and clutch at the time. But you'd think if they had issues they wouldn't have passed a driving test, I don't really know.
