Last night I bought GTA V strictly for this mod. I really have no interest in playing GTA V Online, heh. I'd have given LSPDFR my $40 directly if I could have.

Anyways I am pretty confused on how all this works. I'm not using any additional plugins yet as I figured I should get my head around the basic functions first. I can't even complete a traffic stop correctly. A tutorial I watched said to hit "E" to initiate a traffic stop but for some reason when I press it it turns my lights and sirens on, as well as opening the "Look up" search box. It does both of those at the same time when I press "E". That can't be right can it?

Anyways, I'm curious about the proper steps to initiate a traffic stop, conduct a search of the person if needed, and send them on their way. Sometimes I press "N" and turn my lights on to do the traffic stop as I don't think a siren is always required, they pull over and then leave when I get out. This leads me to believe I'm not triggering the "traffic stop" correctly.

So TLDR. What is the proper control sequence for initiating a traffic stop, running their name, searching if necessary, and sending them on their way? I'd like to eventually start responding to calls, talking to people on the streets, etc, etc but for now I can't even conduct a traffic stop correctly.

Thanks guys and big THANKS to the devs. Like I said I bought GTA V just for this, and ONLY this.

First of all, welcome!

You have to press Shift first to "blip" a vehicle before you can stop it. So the order is:

  1. Get behind a vehicle
  2. Press Shift. It should show a red blip for the vehicle and make a bloop sound
  3. Then activate your lights by pressing E. The vehicle should pull "over" (although the AI isn't great at actually stopping somewhere sane)

Then you can actually interact with the stopped ped:

  • Walk up to the driver's side door
  • You'll be prompted to press E to interact
  • You can then say "hello", then ask for ID
  • To Run their ID, either get in your car and press E while stopped to bring up the police computer, or press N to go to the Look Up Subject Name menu
  • You can then press E again to get a menu to give them a citation or warning, or ask them to leave the vehicle
  • To arrest them, ask them to leave the vehicle, then press and hold E to arrest them

Thanks for the reply. One of the problems I am having though is that when I press "E" when I get back into my car with their ID to bring up the police computer it either turns off my lights, or turns on lights and sirens, as well as opening the police computer. Anyway to have it open the computer without messing with the lights and sirens?

Not that I know of, unfortunately. I usually use the N menu for that reason.

Use a controller.

if 'E' opens the computer, then my do I have the lights and sirens toggled with DEL and default J keys?

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MODS..THEY'RE CALLED READMEs   AKA read me for a reason

lspdfr plugin or GTA V crashed? find your Rage log in your gta folder, usually found after ragepluginhook.exe and open it, hit Ctrl a, open pastebin.com, select new paste, hit Ctrl v, get the link after you pasted it and supply that with your issue in the specific mod topic, it helps the developer diagnose the problem you may have.

No thanks. I have always preferred the precision of a mouse when it comes to aiming and looking around.
