Police lights are dull

Featured Replies

I don't understand why they reverted. It's probably because I verified integrity of game. I tried installing the Improved LED and Spotlight mod in OpenIV, but they don't appear any brighter... What could be the issue? See example below:

Put shader quality to high or above, and make sure you installed everything properly.

That's the thing. The shader is on high. I installed the files where I was told to. Still no improvements. I don't get it.

You're necessarily doing something wrong on your end for it not to work as it is intended to.

Well that's obvious, I'm asking for help here, as I've exhausted all my options and there was no read me file.

Try turning up soft shadows, it worked for me.

I will try that, thanks for the suggestion!

- Radiance V, I believe, is the best mod for making your lights show up better.

-If you installed Visual V, make sure you install Radiance after Visual V, because Visual V will replace Radiance's settings.

-As previous posts said, make sure your shader setting is high... but also, Post FX should be set at high or above.

The above settings are how I get my lights looking bright, without Radiance along with Post FX and Shader, my lights looked dull and horrible.

RadianceV you say? I guess I'll have to give that a try. I could have sworn that my settings were on high. I know my postfx is on high. Could verifying the game integrity push the shader setting back down?

I doubt that would mess with your settings, but check just to make sure shader is set to high because that will certainly do it. I really do like Radiance V... much more than any other visual mod out there.

All of the lightbars look washed out, so it must be a low graphics setting somewhere, but that's the thing, I've always kept them on high, never anything less than high. Never know, could have glitched and dropped the setting, especially when you minimize and go back full screen I've noticed.

I would just go back to your settings a double check Post FX and Shader primarily. Sometimes my settings get reset and I have no idea why. If that doesn't work, I really recommend trying Radiance. Prior to using Radiance, even with the settings, I really didn't like how my lights looked.

I will take that advice and check it when I get home from work in the morning. Thanks a lot for helping me troubleshoot this. You know I'm sure how irritating these game issues can be.

Not a problem. And trust me I know. When I first started playing LSPDFR, it took me probably 20 hours just to set everything up without having glitches and things that just didn't look right. Certainly takes a lot of time, and patience.

Sometimes, if the model creator hasn't optimised the vehicles LB settings for Radiance or just hasn't really set it up at all, doesn't have any reflection off of anything. BxBugs' vehicles all have some sort of reflection off of buildings, creating a realistic flare to the lightbars. Carpers vehicles on the other hand, don't have reflections for the lightbars.

Your issue may or may not be an issue with the vehicle model itself.

I've used these vehicles before without issues

Tried the radiance mod and changed settings. Still no fix. They're still dull looking on all vehicles.

That's extremely odd. AgentDaquan does have a point because some of my vehicles come with a strong corona and others hide the coronas under the car. I would try with another car and see if you are experiencing the issue still. If your shader and post FX settings are on high or above and you have Radiance V installed, that's extremely odd that you are not seeing brighter lights. I'm thinking it's the model.

That's the thing... the model worked PERFECTLY since I installed it, but after I verified game integrity, it made them appear washed out on all vehicles. I just went ahead and reinstalled the game. Nothing I tried that was recommended worked.

Try removing the Mods folder from the GTA directory, load the game, quit, and put the Mods folder back in (with Radiance V installed into it).

I'm sure that might have worked -- I reinstalled the game and it works again
