Weapon mods make GTA V crash

Featured Replies

I've been dealing with this problem for a while now and has basically kept me away from playing V. The problem is that anytime I install a weapon mod, either the basic or the animated ones, the game freezes while loading the single player after the main menu.

It's particularly bugging because after this happens, backup files won't do anything; the game will keep crashing no matter what I do until I reinstall everything.

Any clue of why this may be happening?

As far I remember in the mods folder, whatever is the .rpf file where the instructions installations tell to do so. Either way if I am not mistaken if you install any mod out of the mods folder the game won't crash but simply 'update' and reinstall the files.

It depends where they are located, since patches of the game will make the (some or all) of the files obsolete. Sometimes the readme isn't accurate as to where to install the files anymore.

Then how do I know where to install the files? I mean, if installing them wrong makes the game crash, and the backup files useless as the game will keep crashing even if I use them, using mods in V is like walking blindfolded into a land mine field. It's a complete mess. And another thing I don't either understand, why won't backup work either?

I don't know about the backups, but sometimes I look at the comments of the file, especially on GTA-5-Mods. Some guys know exactly where to put it when the file has to be updated.
