Recommended Controllers/Joysticks/Mice?

Recommended Posts

This question really isn't requesting support ? I have been playing GTA IV on PS3 for sometime ? I just recently discovered LCPDFR ? And reading quite a few threads here I realize PS3 is not supported ? I'm very interested in the concept of LCPDFR and my computer is capable of handling GTA IV and LCPDFR ? But before acquiring a copy of GTA IV PC I'm interested in what Controller/Joystick/Mouse I should acquire to utilize so I can achieve the very best experience possible ? What I have read so far sounds as if I really don't need a Gamepad or Joystick ? And if that is true ? Is there then a certain Mouse to use ? At the moment I use a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard/Mouse ? And if a Mouse is used ? Wouldn't a Trackball be even better to use for greater controll? ? Thanx for any and all information ? I'm looking forward to Experiencing LCPDFR!

All computer games are designed for mouse and keyboard control. Any mouse and keyboard will work.

That said: If you are extremely serious about gaming, I might recommend a specialized mouse. I just got one, and it's nice. However, you definitely don't need one, and wireless mice should work fine.

Also, FYI, this goes in "GTA IV Discussion". It's good you didn't put it in Support; I'm sure a mod will move it to the right place soon.

If you currently own a PS3 and you have that wireless controller, and the plug in cable, it will work just fine on your computer just as long as you get the correct drivers/emulators, I've used it every now and again using Motion Joy, as far as reccomending keyboards and a mice, from personal experience, this is what I've used:

steel series QWK +Mass, absolutely wonderful mouse pad, one of the best I have used.

Razer death adder, hated it, ergonomics are only good for spread out hands and the way it felt just wasn't for me.

Logitech Performance MX, wonderful mouse, not built for gaming though, great for graphics, not the best for gaming, expensive as well.

Corsair M60 FPS Mouse, They say its for FPS only, they lied, hands down, best mouse I have EVER used, love it.

As far as keyboard, I use a Corsair K90, best, keyboard, ever.

All computer games are designed for mouse and keyboard control. Any mouse and keyboard will work.

I'll go ahead and move that now, thanks for letting him know.

I use this: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice-pointers/mice/devices/gaming-mouse-g500

I don't really have a great desire for a mouse with an odd design, and I have a very specific set of things I like in a mouse. However, again, you don't need to worry about what will and won't work; any two-button mouse works for GTA.

Now we've mentioned hardware for IV anyway, I made a topic a pretty while ago in the support section about a steering wheel for PC & PS3 I have purchased. Hoping it'll work in IV. It doesn't. Drivers installed etc, it works in GTA San Andreas, but not in IV. I guess that's normal?

An emaulator is basically software that makes the computer think that the Controller/Steering wheel is a keyboard.

You can link keyboard commands (e.g: E or CTRL+F) to a button on your hardware and it works like a keyboard.

Oh, yeah, we used some program what made my friend and I test the steering wheel, and create it as an .asi file. Unfortunately it failed.

You could also check out GlovePIE. Caution: Download from a mirror, not the main site; the main site was hacked a while ago. The DL *seems* to still be OK, but no point risking it.
