The problem is RPH .36 and the newest patch from Rockstar for the retail version. If any of you have the retail version (CD, not downloaded off Steam), that is probably why your games are crashing. I am in the same boat. Nothing can really be done until RPH .37 is released, which I thought would have been out already since they discovered the issue long ago, but those forums seem to be a ghost town.

The game's not playable for CD users until .37 is released.

I have rockstar version, I can confirm that the newest version of gtav works with rph0.36.

And I can confirm it doesn't work. I have the CD version and I have the issue with Ragehook crashing. It has been confirmed by the people from Ragehook that it is a conflict between the new GTA patch and RPH .36, specifically when it comes to modifications.

Yes, we're going to have to wait until they release .37 with the fix.

Thank you Henderson for a great response, I own the CD's and I have been repeating myself over and over and have stated the facts from my end. Finally can stop looking at this shit till I see .37 is released, sucks as we probably have to wait till plugins are updated as well.

I'm having a similar problem with the Steam version, so I can't help but think this is inaccurate.

 

The problem is that trying to run RPH results in a crash while "loading Story Mode with Rage Plugin Hook" - even without any Plugins (including LSPDFR). Im running other mods and using a mods folder, and the game runs fine with those. Trying to run the game through RPH, however, crashes GTA V.

If you're getting zero crashes using the newest patch from Rockstar and using RPH .36 while using the CD's then that must be an anomaly. The people from Ragehook themselves has said there's an issue between those two that causes crashes and it will be fixed in RPH .37. The last patch from Rockstar created a ton of problems, and this is one of them. I find it very hard to believe your games are running crash free when they've come out and identified the problem that needs to be corrected. You can reload the plugins while in game and continue to play, however, LSPDFR will continue to crash.

To clarify, the error you get in your readme refers to corrupt memory. This has never crashed my game prior to getting in the game and playing. It would crash when accepting calls or at other random points while playing the game. If you're crashing while loading story mode, I suppose this could still be due to problems with RPH, but I'd suspect there's a different problem elsewhere. The "corrupt memory" error has not happened with Steam users, just those of us using the retail CD version of the game. This could be why RPH hasn't been too quick on coming out with a fix.

The only time I've had my game crash to desktop while loading GTA through RPH was when there was a conflict with an installed plugin. Check your startup.txt file that's in the main GTA directory and make sure it's not trying to load a plugin that you've removed. If I recall right, I had that problem and it would crash because it was trying to load a program that wasn't there. If that isn't the issue, try updating your update.rpf file and see if that works. Those are the only times I've gotten a crash to desktop while loading and once I've updated those, the game started. If those still don't solve your problem, just totally uninstall the game and do a clean install and start from scratch. It's a pain, I know, but it should at least fix the issue. Since the death of RPH .36 for me, that's what I've done. I totally removed everything and reinstalled the game, and am now waiting on RPH .37 to come out. At least in the meantime I can play GTA online.

I'm perfectly fine and happy using RH 36 on a retail version, if you don't believe me, i can take a photo of the box.
