Who wants to be a police officer here?

Featured Replies

I guess everyone here likes police stuff on these forums, but who is actually planning on becoming a cop?

Im planning on going to college, afterwards, go to to police school and hopefully become a full time police officer in Montreal

Me living in Los Angeles, I have to take the opportunity. I debated about the Highway Patrol for a bit, but apparently you are sent anywhere in the state. I figure, why not work in one of the most famous police forces in the world? So that's where I'm set at. They have a neat motorcycle unit that I might try to qualify for if on the other hand I'd be stuck in a Ford Explorer or something.

I exploded at Ford Explorer xD. I had to drive an unmarked Taurus on a special detail few weeks ago. I'm still recovering.

I used to want to be a cop.. Still kind of do, Although i've opted for the Forensics side of things. in order to do that though i need to be a police officer for 2 years then i can transfer to the CSI team.

So if i do Forensics i'm still technically a police officer. right now i have no idea what career choices i want to do.

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

I hate taurus. My agency is against them.  We go with the chargers! Unmarked are my favs!

While in theory the idea is great (it really pisses me off seeing how many idiots get away with speeding / running reds / generally driving like dumbasses, so I'd probably quite love to be a traffic cop), I don't think I have the patience to try it in the real world. I've heard it's frowned upon to do things like shoot the suspects in the head when they wont quit being dumbasses, or run out of taser range :P

I wanted to be a cop since I was a kid. I'm preparing my self to become a traffic motor officer in Spain, they are part of the traffic police ( called Guardia Civil de Trafico, is like the CHP) that also is part of the Guardia Civil, is strange to compare with an american agency because it was created in the 19th Century but it is like the state police (?)

So first I need to pass the Guardia Civil exams, then the Guardia Civil de Trafico cualification and finally the mottor officer cualification. Yes it will be hard but I will try my best to realize my dream, I can't imagine working in other stuff.

For those who want to know more about the agencies I was talking:

Lundy, if you ever become a police officer, please notify me so that whenever I next go on holiday to America I avoid Los Angeles entirely.

Edit: Oh yes, and on topic. I want to become a police officer. I live in the UK so it wouldn't be all the "guns, bang bang, accused of corruption" affair of America. The issue is that I never finished schooling and I'm not very physically fit.

Well I think were on the same page page you and I.

I used to be very slim, but I started working out and I can see the difference!

About school, just go back and finish it, nothing is impossible :P

I don't have any idea where exactly I wanna go...

But Police Officer is definitely an option.

Is it possible to be a police officer in another country or do you have to be born there or something?

Well I think everywhere, you have to be a resident of the country

Example, if I want to work at the RCMP (royal canadian mountain patrol) , you have to be a canadian citizen.

Just check it out on internet, google has all the answers :P
