Possibly true GTA V Leak.

Draw distance. Only certain parts of the map are loaded at a time. Even in GTA IV, when you're in Alderney, Broker is just a blury, non solid, distant view. No cars or people are spawned there, and detail/solidness will not be loaded until you get in Algonquin.

This will be the case with GTA V. Also, remember they said "It is a very big map".

If V has the same streaming as IV, I hope to god its improved.

I've had frame drops on the 360 version when I'm speeding through certain parts of LC, for instance, across the Broker Bridge

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

I remember back in 09, I had many problems on the 360 version. The whole city would be invisible, with Alpha Textures and shaders. They released a few patches, and now the 360 is arguably the smoothest and most stable version in comparison to the PS3 and PC. That's just from my experience, and the fact that the game was built on the 360, then later ported to the PS3/PC. That's the case with most games.

Draw Distance is actually incorrect. It plays a factor in how far you can see cars/peds as well as the buildings but what really creates the "blurry" effect is a feature called "LOD" or "Level of Detail". Basically the "LOD" effect exchanges the building models with lower poly more blurry ones. The closer you get to the object the more the model changes to the detailed one. Depending on your Draw Distance it will happen sooner or later, that is why on the PC you can modify your draw distance, in case your PC can handle full Models all the time.

Update - Map created by the guy who leaked the info to show how big the map is: http://www.gtaforums...pic=506286&st=0

Here is the image for those of you who just want to see the picture:

thediamonds.jpg

It's used to show how big the map is, a few Liberty City's smooshed in one, and two Red Dead maps smooshed for Country side.

Overall - Is he fake or real? It's up to you to choose.

But either way, that map could be an accurate description of what the map may look like, in terms of City - Countryside.

Sigh. If thats true then Xbox 360 versions will have multiple disc's which will stop me from buying it on console.

That's what I meant when I said that the consoles - especially the Xbox without a Blu-Ray drive - might not be able to run a map of that size well.

Even though it's not loaded all at a time, the amount of data does lead to all sorts of trouble, like disc-swapping.

And personally, I think having to swap the disc while exploring GTA's map is a huge drawback, and I doubt R* will risk it.

Well, it may be like L.A Noire. You only have to swap it while you progress through the story, not while moving through the city. I would rather have that than having to swap it while driving around the city. So only at two story points in the game, you would have to swap it.

Yeah, Team Bondi managed to put both the complete map and a part of the story on each disc. However, if GTA V's map is really as big as stated above, then it will be a lot bigger than even LA Noire's map. As far as I remember it was huge, but 3 IVs and 2 RDRs will be a lot more, I think. So there won't be much space left on each disc for the storyline.

Small fact, the reason why L.A. Noire was placed onto three discs was not because of the map at all, it was primarily because of the technology used. The facial reconstruction system that they used took up a lot of space, which required them to expand to multiple discs. ;)

What I meant was that the more space the map takes up on the disc, the less free space remains for the storyline etc.

And you're absolutely correct, GTA V probably won't take up as much space for the characters, but still i find it hard to believe that such a big map that will hopefully offer diverse settings and lots of minigames and shops etc. (which also would have to be on every disc if you don't want to swap every time you enter a Burger Shot) and a typical GTA storyline witch dozens of hours of missions and lots of cutscenes will fit together on a single disc.

Also, the source talks about every car being there in different versions etc. That would be a lot of data as well that would also have to be on each disc for them to be spawned at all times.
