Can the number of police vehicles ...

Featured Replies

for a given area or police station be changed?

Could we somehow control the total number of police vehicles in an area (Los Santos, Los Santos county, Blaine County)? or even more preferable, control how many vehicles total are available from each police station?

This wasn't announced in the latest update for LSPDFR, but thought that it be sort of an obvious compliment to the backup customization recently announced. With Sam's and the teams latest work, we can control what sort of backup we want in each of the different areas, but for more control, and part of being a Police Chief/Administration would be to control how many vehicles total there be to call.

It would give the player a sense of control, knowing they could place 8 total vehicles DT station, but maybe 2 at another, etc

Cheers

As far as I am concerned, LSPDFR is about the everyday life of a beat cop. Other than that, I didn't really understand what number of police cars do you mean: either the number of cars that patrol an area, or the available units to select at a station?

I mentioned both. I think it be cool to be able to control either the number of total vehicles in an area (ie Los Santos), OR, even more preferable, if we could actually control the number of vehicles available at each police station.

The idea is really in line with the backup customization that is coming out with version 0.3 of LSPDFR. The backup customization allows us to control what vehicles/peds answer our calls (and if we prefer, we can specify this by area (ie Los Santos, Blaine County)..my idea is to basically put a minimum or maximum number of cop cars available for an area (ie Los Santos) or for specific police stations.

The idea is partly to give people more control (sort of be the Chief of Police) and let people decide how many total vehicles you will have in an area or how many total vehicles you will have at each station, but I think it also opens up more opportunity for role-play and unique situations.

I'm not sure what you mean. You're talking about the number of cop cars in an area, but that's not actually a number that exists in a video game. In GTA V (and just about all other games), inhabitants of an area simply do not exist until the player gets to that area. Peds and cars are created in the small area around the player to make the world feel inhabited. When you call for backup, LSPDFR doesn't look at the units patrolling the area and pick the closest. That's because "the units patrolling the area" is a nonexistent concept in GTA. LSPDFR spawns its own backup, in order to give the impression of a nearby radio car that was dispatched to the scene even though "nearby radio car" isn't normally a thing in V.

So, can you describe what you're asking for in terms of how V actually works? The real way a backup call goes is that LSPDFR spawns a vehicle in a spot near you (not at a police station), and tasks that unit with going to your location. In terms of that, what should change?

I'm not a programmer or a modder so I apologize for my ignorance on how it actually works.

But if I understand what you are saying, what I'm proposing is if you are in Vespucci Beach, (since Vespucci Beach has a small police station), and if other stations are not that close, or if the closest station can also be classified as small as well..you would see much fewer police vehicles spawn. Ie Maybe you get very little support. Or maybe you get that support but those extra units spawn 4-5 minutes later because of the distance of the other stations. Something like that.
