What will 2015 be remembered for?

There's a difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration. Illegal immigration DOES cost millions even billions. The US government wants to show amnesty to our illegal immigrants. We have immigrants that are going through the system and successfully entering the US, and we have illegal aliens that hop the border and walk right in. Then the government wants to HELP those that just hopped the border, and it costs  American taxpayers millions. Let me explain something to you: Minimum wage in the US is $7.25 an hour. Business are requ red by law to have employees make a certain amount of money, the minimum wage. A lot of illegal aliens say that they take jobs Americans won't take. No, Americans are willing to work any job that pays enough to suffice, but until those business raise their minimum wage, they'll slowly lose money because no one is working for them. Where the problem with illegal aliens comes into play is that they step up and say "Hey, you don't have to pay us $7.25 or more. We're not even supposed to be here so we'll work for $2.00 an hour". Guess what that business does? Breaks the law and hires a bunch of illegal aliens. Now what? The business is swimming in it, and the illegal alien is still broke, and the American is out of a job. The issues with illegal immigration are blatant and massive.

If it's as simple and basic as you state, then why doesn't France open its borders and announce that it will take all of the migrants? Maybe because that wouldn't be a good idea? Maybe because it would be too expensive? Maybe because it wouldn't have anywhere to store those migrants?

In case you're not aware, all borders of European countries are open. There's no control allowed at the borders thanks to the Shengen treaty. So yes, France has immigrants, the Syrians and all that everyone sees on TV. Cities unlock funds to provide basic survival needs. But read what I said again. I didn't say illegal immigration was cool, or that it was a nice thing, that we should let happen, and I'm perfectly aware of the impact it has on economy. Only a fool would deny that. What I was talking about is that it's not cheaper to fight ISIS. It simply isn't, that's a fact. Governments spend MUCH more on the army and everything that is related than for immigrants and immigration. For example, in Europe, it costed roughly between 10 and 15 billions of euros over TEN years to fight against immigration. Meanwhile, French government spent 62 billions of euros for the armies, just for 2014. And it's not the possible social help that some immigrants could get from the government that is going to compensate for this huge gap. Fighting ISIS costs more money than immigrants will ever do.

Secondly, this migratory flow is quite different from illegal immigration of people coming to get a job. They're not coming to "steal your jobs" or something. They are fleeing WAR. They are fleeing murderers, rapists, mercenaries and ISIS. It's just normal to welcome them, AT LEAST for the duration of the events. If suddenly Germany invaded France again, I would be happy to see a country welcoming me as I flee the conflicts. That's the second thing I was pointing at. And for this case of migratory flow in particular, the only solution to control it and reduce it is not to close borders and send people back to their country, it's to give them a reason to stay in them. For example, I don't know, peace.

  • Immigration BS in Europe, and how it ruined our welfare and economy. It's cheaper to fight ISIS, build temporary camps in that region and make the problem dissapear instead of shipping them here.

  • Obama leaving office.

  • Honestly, probably Windows 10. Or Steve Jobs turning in his grave after Apple announced that iPencil or whatever it's called.

But ain't int better in a long term view to get rid of the problem in their homeland, so people would return to their homes or at least  those who still didn't immigrate would remain there? Many of the things going on there now are Western countries fault (don't call me a liberal but that's how it is), so reinstating order back there is what better be done. My country has immigration problem too, only in our case it's Eastern Ukrainians who run from the war. Sorry to say that they don't find much help here.

While everything you said is correct, I wonder how you can ask them out after "the events" are over.

Indeed, I totally agree with you on the fact that we have to take care of the ISIS threat, there's no denying on that. Just as much as I agree that we western countries caused the mess that is the middle east right now. I was using the armement budget for people using the "immigration costs too much" argument. But all in all, now that the threat is there, we have to get rid of it. As for how to send back refugees to their home once everything settled down, that's another story. There is a lot of unknown today since it's basically the largest migratory flow Europe ever faced in its history.

Oh indeed :D

For me 2015 will be an easy year to remember: I graduated from my university and got my first military rank! Not every year those things occur ^^
