Every time I go on i try and start the mod but nothing happens im pretty sure everything is up to date but i also have never done this before can someone please help.

Can you do me a favor and post me a diagnostics report please? The link to the tool is in my signature, make sure to run it as an administrator (right click -> Run as Administrator).

That sounds to me like a problem with the dependencies. Make sure you have the following two programs installed, even if you have installed them already, download and try to install them again to ensure you have the correct versions:

I'm just going to throw this in also, since it's a common mistake: use the left ALT, not the right.

I ran the diagnostics and the only thing that had an x was the gta 4 asi is the important or not

Go into your root directory typically - C:program filesrockstar gamesGrand theft auto IV

Look for the following two files:

dsound.dll

xlive.dll

only one should be present, if there is two, delete one.

ya i deleted dsound.dll but that just allowed me to start the game i still cant go on duty

Did you get from steam or disc Or.... Download a cracked version?

Answer the above question, then make sure that you have installed these like I said earlier

i have it on disc and i installed and reinstalled those links you gave me above but does the gta 4 asi matter because that is what was had an x when i did the diagnostics check

also since my game wasnt running with dsound i deleted it but i have been reading around and people say u have to download with xlives sumthin can u give me link if u know to that download

What I was trying to say was:

when you install LCPDFR, you will be presented with a list of items half way through the installer, all of which will have their own checkbox next to them. One will say "dsound.dll" another will say "xliveless.dll" select "xliveless" and unselect "dsound".

the mod works but i was also wondering about els because i have the two files in my gta 4 root folder but whenever i go in game it doesnt work

Have you tried pressing "J"/"K"????

When in LCPDFR And you have selected your car, hit left ALT+M will bring up the ELS console and use J/K To trigger lights, J will be your primary and can be change the lighting difference by pressing U and I can be used to change the secondary and G will turn your siren on ect... I have changed my mouse RT button to sound my siren makes for better chases ect when going through intersections,hope this helps!
