How To Mod???

Featured Replies

I'm having the problem where no vehicle or ped mods stay in the files in open iv because when I launch rage .020 it says launcher needs attention downloads update then I have the original files back instead of the modded ones .. So I ask what is the proper procedure to have the mods stay in tack while I launch and not get replaced by originals... ????

are you using the mods folder for OpenIV?

Im Retired. But that may change..

Your problem is that your replacing files, then RGSC is downloading an "update" that replaces your modded files with vanilla files, they've done this to prevent online modding. this can be bypassed by using a mods folder.

Can you upload a screenshot of your mods folder? You've probably just did the file/mod method wrong.

I agree, Maybe he just didn't put the mod files in the correct place/did the mod method wrong.

That has happened to me too, I agree that "That can be bypassed by using a mods folder".

I know whats going on here.

You need to make a new folder called "mods" (all in lowercase) in your main games directory and essentially copy the file paths/structure/layout and put them inside your new mods folder (by making empty folders etc.)

.....BELOW IS JUST AN EXAMPLE.....

Be sure to copy the structure of the directories like mods>audio>sfx>resident.rpf etc etc etc

(So make the empty folders in the same order as they are in the game.)

Then copy and paste any files and folders into the directory you just made, then edit THOSE copies of the games stuff.  That way the game cant detect it and does not over ride what you changed.

***The game will always load from the custom stuff in your mods folder instead of the main game copy***

I hope this makes sense to you.

Well for a vehicle texture mod .... I have the original vehicle rpf file in the "mods" folder so I edit the vehicle rpf to change the texture it's in the file.... then I launch the modified files but it doesn't work ... am I suppose to have all the folders that branch out to vehicle rpf?    .... the path I use is update\x64\DLC packs\Patchday4ng\dlc\x64\levels\gta 5\Vehicles ...

I just have the vehicles rpf in the mods folder... is that wrong???

DaWoodz

Yes, do what you said you have to re-create the whole file structure/path.  So it should look like this....

mods\update\x64\DLC packs\Patchday4ng\dlc\x64\levels\gta 5\Vehicles.rpf
