For the love of god, I cannot figure this one out. 

I tried adding GTAIV as a non-steam game the other day, and of course that didn't work (GTAIV needs administrator, and you can't run games as admin from Steam Library) so I removed it and tried to play it regularly. 

The problem is that whenever I load in LCPDFR, and press Left ALT for any reason (ALT+U for example to put on a hat, or just ALT in it of itself) freezes the game and crashes (GTAIV Not Responding). 

I've done everything, complete full reinstall (1.0.7.0, Administrator, No Mods, Default LCPDFR v1.1) and it continues to do it. Yes, I even restarted my computer. Additionally, nothing shows up in the log files which is why I didn't post them. 

Any suggestions?

hmm. i have been searching around but no luck yet. i do have a question though. when you first turn on LCPDFR you have to push left Alt P to start the mod. does that work? or are you not able to even do that? knowing that it at least works there might be of some help on ma searches :P

Yes, everything works. I can go and spawn cars, run around, shoot, put on a hat manually with a trainer, it all works. But as soon as I hit ALT it freezes.

what about if you press ~ and type forceduty? It's a way around pushing alt p.

Strangest glitch I've ever encountered. 

I did a reinstall 2 times, I think the integrity of my discs has faded over the years, they have lots of scratches. But that can't be it, because the game runs fine otherwise. 

I'll have to do some more extensive testing. 

It most likely has to do with the walk style LCPDFR changes to or the box thing that pops up on the screen when you hold Alt. I have no idea what would fix it.

hey quiggles. have ya been able to fix this? i have been thinkin bout it all day. i got home from work and i've looked all over the internet and nothing on Alt crashes. The only problem i've seen is an Alt Tab crash thousands of times :P you said that GTA IV works fine. what happens if you push Alt in just normal GTA IV with no police mod installed? does it crash still? i was wondering just so we know if its a GTA IV problem or an LCPDFR one.

have ya thought about testing out an older version of the mod to see if that one will work? would kinda narrow things down a bit i guess. but good luck ova there!

Thanks for checking in, I've been pretty busy AFK for a bit, so it might take me a couple more days to sit down and figure this one out. I didn't think about an older version, I will indeed try that when I find the time.

GREAT!! congrats on finding the problem. i'm also glad that it wasnt the mod. thanks for posting Quiggles and thanks for letting me help you try to figure it out.
