Open iv now finally allows you to view vehicle models!

 

let the vehicle modding begin

 

edit: never mind it doesnt allow viewing but we can now replace vehicle models

I don't think they've updated it yet for viewing vehicles

They havent updated yet and the only thing you be able to do is view them and even when they get reimporting you still have to wait for zmod.

Or, you know, you could wait for GIMS or OFIO, the two that were made for OpenIV's OpenFormats. They may have been slower getting Fragment models implemented for IV, but they did it with less crashieness and more in-line with an un-documented standard. The ones that don't force you to pay or pirate a tool to mod a game.

Public outcry when the mods have a price tag, but when the tools to make them have a price tag, you all just bend over.

Well when i right clicked on one of the vehicle models yesterday it had the option to replace in edit mode but i couldnt view the model itself

Replacing the files just requires the ability to edit RPF, which OpenIV already has (it can replace YMT and YTD and all the rest as well). What they've done is decode the YFT format enough to at least view it; they may or may not be able to export/import OpenFormats (if they can, then that'll be awesome).

​Yeah, but replacing files is simple and irrelevant here. Replacing files doesn't require OpenIV to know anything about YFTs. Anything at all. It only requires RPF editing, and it only lets you copy cars verbatim.
