What is good FPS for playing games such as GTA V and in general?

Featured Replies

Searching a bit online it seems 30 FPS is the bare minimum for games to play smoothly not lagging as much and below 30 is when it lags and stuff. 60 FPS being the best possible, and anywhere between 30 to 60 being alright. I just want to ask what you guys think, I am sure you are more knowledgeable on the category - what is good FPS for running games smoothly? Is it indeed 30? What range is a good FPS range? Is it indeed 30 - 60? I need this to help me determine things for a gaming PC and I am using a website that shows how well it'd play a game FPS wise and I was just curious since I don't know much about FPS. Any information would help! Thanks!

Joking aside, 30 = TV frame rate, and most console video games. 60 delivers smoother performance and is noticeable to the human eye. No need for opinions on it.

25 FPS is tolerable. 30-40 FPS is decent. 60 FPS is great. But that's definitely not where it ends.. My friend played a game at a solid 130 FPS and it looked gorgeous (and I could definitely see the difference when it once dipped below 100 FPS). Another person I know runs GTA V at 80 FPS with ultra settings.

I know I was just asking what frame rate was decent before becoming noticeable and it seems the answer was 30 bare minimum, which is what TVs were, 45 really being decent, 60 and higher being preferred. Either way I already chose my gaming laptop. It seems that website might only check at max 35 FPS....because it only shows that for multiple computers i've tested so I am guessing I read that wrong. Thanks anyways for your help but this topic was already all done. Just can't lock it or remove it. But uh...thanks anyways for additional inputs but my gaming laptop was already chosen, so it really wasn't necessary. Eh oh well, thanks anyways!
