Ridiculous download times

Featured Replies

Well, as some of you know, they users who use the physical edition needs to install a 5GB patch.

Due to this rockstars server has severe issues, and caps download limits between 1.6kb/s to 100-200kb/s, and it seem to most be for the European, Asian and African servers.

Why release a game, just to have a lot of players downloading the 5GB patch? It ends with their servers getting raped, haven't they learnt anything from first day of GTA O?

I myself have been downloading the patch for two days now, and what's your opinion on this? Why would we need "mpheists" dlc if we're gonna play singeplayer? Why can't we launch the game in offline mode because of a DLC SP players can't even use?

Its been downloading for two days for you? I downloaded the initial 59GB's in just over 3 hours, and the patch in just over one hour. That was mainly due to the massive amounts of people launching it for the first time.

It has. Mainly because first i was stuck with 10kb/s internet, but my current network speed is about 75 times better, but it still caps my connection to 1.6-20kb/s.

France here, and I got the retail copy of GTA yesterday. The 5GB patch got downloaded in a couple hours, my speed download from Rockstar servers was of an average 1.65Mb/s (which is good since I usually download stuff at 800Kb/s). Are you sure the problem is not on your end?

I also noticed that sometimes the download speed slowed down to ridiculous speeds, but pausing and resuming the download was fixing this.

I dont know. My network is slow, but not that slow.

Annoying thing is now the Social Club launcher is acting up and putting me in an infinite "Offline mode" loading screen. *sigh*

It took me about 3.5 hours to download, quicker than I expected given the fact everyone is downloading the game.

On a side note I have never been fond of the Social Club launcher, I hated that thing in GTA IV.

Mine was rather frustrating because it started out downloading at my normal 10MB/s-15/mb, then it went down to about 4-5 at 10GB or so, continued to go up and down for the next 2 or 3 hours until it finally picked back up to normalish speeds, around 45GB/59.1GB downloaded.

so not only does it depend on your own internet speed, but if you bought this game day 1 or even a couple days after, the steam servers are probably slammed, considering it was up and down the whole time it downloaded
