GFWL & Loading Issues

Featured Replies

I am having issues left and right today.  I noticed I had both dsound.dll xlive.dll in the folder.  Don't know how that happened but it was there.  The game and LCPDFR were loading fine.  Thought to take out one or the other.  Since (I believe) ELS requires dsound.dll to be there, I decided to remove xlive.dll.  Well that was apparently not the right choice.  The game wouldn't even get past the loading screen.  So I think, 'Well, I'll just xlive.dll back and pretend none of this ever happened.'  Nope.  Now, (obviously) I have to sign into GFWL.  Fine.  After messing around for 10 minutes with a forgotten password, I get it signed in.  Game starts to load.  Great!  Then after the loading screen fades to black, it says at the bottom "Starting a New Game..."  -__-  Before this mess happened, I had completed all of the story missions but hardly any of the other things to get it to 100% completion.  I just want it to work.  Now, I'm thinking, 'I'll just outsmart the game and go to the menu and select "Load..."  GTAIV says there are no savegames on the hard drive.  Well, I disagree.  I open up Documents...Rockstar Games....GTA IV...savegames and voila, my save games are there.

Anybody have any sort of an idea on how to fix this?

Help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much!

When you use xlive, the savegames go in your documents. When you use dsound or no asi loader (so with the GFWL stuff running), they go in C:Users[username]AppDataLocalRockstar GamesGTA IVsavegamesuser_[random string of numbers and letters]

Just copy the savegames into both directories and you will always have them.
