GTA IV has tons of "lag"

Featured Replies

I installed this game after a full system restore. I have had lag issues ever since the install, I am sure it has nothing to do with LCPDFR or ELS because it has been doing this since before ever downloading any mods.

To make sure it was not just my computer I installed my old copy of Modern Warfare 2 and ran a couple multiplayer games on the highest settings and it was really smooth.

I have done lots of research and noticed lots of people have this same issue, I have tried lots of things over the past two days and NOTHING WORKS! Can someone please help me out!

I have done some research and tried many suggestions.

lots of different command lines (at different times, replacing old ones)

I tried all the graphics settings on as low as possible.

I tried copying the win32_30_nv8 folder to the win32_30atidx10 folder

display.txt

system.txt

EDIT: Here is the results from the benchmrk test. This is with no commandline file and on low settings

Benchmark150404230752.txt

Please let me know what other information you may need, thanks!!

Anyone have any ideas?

Just an update, I added 2 GB RAM per the advice of RockStar tech guy, Did not help any from what I can tell. So all stats should be the same except I have double the RAM now.

a few of us have experienced different levels of lag depending on what system we are using.  i am using an HP all in one and mine is running fine. I do have my CPU usage settings pretty low. I also use Game Booster 3 to stop all things that aren't needed while i am playing.

If you were able to run the game with no problems before and its not working all of a sudden, then perhaps deleting the game and doing a system restore would be a good idea. then re install the game. of course this is just a suggestion. Hopefully someone else who is familiar with these problems can help better than me.

Thanks, the game actually has not ran correctly since the install, which was done after a full system restore. I made a post over on another forum and the guys there just keep telling me my machine can't run the game. I just find that hard to believe I mean my computer has never given me issues like this. There have been times where I installed a game and it tells me it can't because my machine isn't strong enough, I never got that message with this game, and the tech people at Rockstar said I should be able to run, no problems/.

well i hope you can get it running. so you say the only thing you have installed is LCPDFR? no mods or anything? i was telling another new member earlier that if you installed lcpdfr and then ELS you will have replaced an important Advanced Hook. The ELS version is old. So i am only trying to spot check errors that you might have :P

Oh yeah! I ran into that one as well! I ended up getting help with that over on the LCPDFR side of the boards, haha that was a pain in the butt...

But to answer your question, i have LCPDFR and ELS installed, but the issue with my game has been happening since I first installed it with NOTHING attached to it. I think my computer is just to weak to run the game, I have tried everything I can think of, I'm just gonna wait to upgrade I guess and maybe start with GTAV

What are your computer's specs?

GTA IV most definitely didn't have a good PC port and is badly optimized.  Relatively hefty systems struggle with running it at decent settings, yet they'd run other games at high or ultra settings without breaking a sweat.
