New to PC and Mods, need clarification?

Featured Replies

Hey and thanks to anyone who answers! I'm a complete noob when it comes to PC's, but LCPDFR is too good to pass up, so I'm getting it for my gaming computer as I already have GTA! However, I never download mods and I'm a complete tool, so just some questions;

1) If I just download LCPDFR 0.95, with a modded car I have also downloaded from this website, will all other police vehicles in the game have the same car? Do I need an extra mod?

2)Above question, but with uniforms for officers.

3) Are there preset uniforms or do I have to download them?

4) Are there preset cars?

5) Do I need to download any additional mods for other police officers to carry out random events, ie, chases etc that I can encounter and join in?

6) Recommended mods?

Thanks guys!

1) Each police car has it's own file, so replacing a car that replaces police2 wouldn't replace noose

2) Most uniforms are just texture changes, so it would replace all of the cops uniforms.

3) LCPDFR uses the default GTAIV police uniforms, replacing them would replace them in LCPDFR as well.

4) It uses the default cars.

5) No.

6) ELS is used on alot of cars, and I find less overtaking useful.

1) just the modded car slot will have the car unless you mod all police vehicles

2) you are an LCPD officer with the LCPDFR mod so yes you have a uniform

3)you ge the original LCPD uniforms but you can download some

4)explain by preset

5)no you don't it comes with the mod, but there are tons of other script mods to make the game more exciting

6)LCPDFR 100%, lot's of people like to you police vehicles from there own city, same for uniforms, traffic flow mod also get yourself the G17 Diagnostics tool

7) if you need help installing them i would be more then happy to walk you through it :)

EDIT: damn, tango beat me too it :P

Okay this clears it up a little, but I want every car in my GTA to look identical to ONE of my modded cars, I hate the GTA cop cars, so how would I do this?

Secondly, if I just download uniform mods, are they there ready to use? I don't get all the "put in the .....file" etc D;

Thirdly, what exciting mods would you recommend? :)

you can just rename a downloaded file to whatever police vehicle you want to mod, or you can just download different ones, as for the uniform textures when you download they are ready to be imported, make sure you run SparIV as admin or it will crash, open component peds in cdi images and locate the cop wtd file, click edit on the right side, it'll open another page, that has your uniform in there, click on the one you want to edit, import your downloaded texture(s) wait a sec for it to show up then click save and close on the right side, rebuild and save and your done :)

as for "exciting mods" i would recommend, Criminal acts mod, hell even get a tsunami mod, it's just a water tweak makes the waves higher, you see cars flying around and whatnot lol, indicator mod you can use your 4 ways, turn signals and turns your headlights off, or area livery mod it restricts certain livery's to certain parts of the city, they can be found on this site

Then you would replace every police vehicle with your modded one.

You would use Spark IV or Open IV to install it into the game. You have a .wtd file and a .wtd file when you download a car mod.

So it would be named _____.wtd ______.wft. You would then put the name of the vehicle you replacing in game in front of the .wtd file and the .wft file you downloaded.

You would do that for every Police Vehicle you want to replace with that one mod. It can be kind of hard at first. Maybe some of the other members can make it more clear than I did.

Edit: Spark IV: http://grandtheftaut...Spark_IV;110271

Open IV: http://openiv.com/We...guest.php?get=0

I use Spark IV (I find it easier), but Open IV can let you do more.

Thanks mate! Makes it loads more clearer! Can you give me an example in replacing the .wtf and wtd files?

Cheers mate this was really helpful concerning the uniforms! Can you make it a little clearer though? For example, I have no idea what "rebuild" means (in computer context) I have no idea to open peds in cdi images D; I'm a noob! D;

Because I want to answer your questions, I will.

Because I want to answer your questions, I will.

1) The modded car will only be seen when the car, that you replaced it with, spawns.

2) Again, will be seen when the character is spawned.

3) The mod sets your character model to the cop model that's already in the game.

4) The mod will provide you with the police vehicles that are already in the game.

5) No.

6) This one is a tuff one, for since you are new to this, it's rather up to you to try out new mods and see what's best for you of course. But I'd recommend Player Selector, and Idle Animation Mod.

If the vehicle mod you got has the file names to like police2.wft and police2.wtd, and you want it to be replacing police. Then just simply rename the files to police.wft and police.wtd.

EDIT: Forgot to say, the car mods would go into the vehicles.img file. You will need SparkIV or OpenIV to open the file and import the model. Vehicles.img is located here: C:Program FilesRocstar GamesGrand Theft Auto IVpcmodelscdimages

Thanks! I know it must be frustrating to be helping a newbie out! That makes sense now, if I need anymore help i'll come back!

last Q, with downloading mods like idle animation, traffic flow, etc.. how do I activate these? do I need to move them to any files or anything?

Also, what the hell is ELS? I know you need it to download some modded cars!

Thanks everyone :)
