Two troublesome questions concerning LCPDFR...

Featured Replies

Hello I have two troublesome questions concerning LCPDFR that I just cannot solve despite what I do so I have come to the community for help. I am not that advanced in how GTA IV files work so when answering please be as descriptive as possible with your explanations so that even a baby could understand, thanks in advance. The questions are:

1. How do I make it so a vehicle stops spawning in traffic if not only spawn with police peds?

And:

2. How do I make it so non-police vehicles can access the police database computer, pull over vehicles, etc.?

I ask these things because I recently made a non-police vehicle into a police vehicle through editing the ELS configuration and added it as an additional police car slot in the LCPDFR document, but, I notice it cannot pull over vehicles nor access the police database so I was just wondering how I can make it so non-police vehicles can access these things as well. Along with, how to make vehicles stop spawning in traffic if not only spawn with police peds because though I chose what the wiki confirmed as one of the most rare vehicles in the game, that only spawned during missions, if driven, I guess it is something in GTA IV's files or something because I noticed it happens with other vehicles as well, it will spawn in traffic even if it is possibly the rarest vehicle only making a few mission appearances not naturally obtainable, if I am driving it, with normal peds or parked which I don't want to see none of that and if I can't at least stop it from spawning, then how to restrict it so ONLY police peds drive it at least and possibly so it stops spawning parked in random areas across the map, and this is obviously because like the normal police vehicles, I don't want non-police peds driving around in the vehicle randomly so yeah how do I stop that and make it so non-police vehicles by default can access the police database computer and pull over other vehicles? Thanks in advance for any responses, the help is much appreciated. And remember: Be as descriptive and as simple as possible so that even a baby could make it work in your explanations, cause I am not that advanced with GTA IV files or anything. Thanks again!

Add the name in the lcpdfR ini under added models.

You didn't read the entire post did you? This was very important. I said I already added the vehicle to the lcpdfr added car area and added the ELS config, but that doesn't make it pull over vehicles, access the police radio, and heck, when the lights and sirens are on vehicles don't even pull to the side for it, so what I am asking is how do I make it so the vehicle stops spawning in traffic if not only spawns with police peds and how to get it so it actually does pull over vehicles, make vehicles go to the sides of the road when the police lights and sirens are on, access the police database, etc. Thanks anyways for answering I suppose.

Try adding it to the police group in cargrps.dat.

ELS only supports vehicles that are in the game's police car slots (police1,police2 etc). By adding it to the LCPDFR.ini added cars section, it only allows you to pull over suspects and access the computer. If you desperately want to use cars that are not in police slots, I would recommend Skorpro's Undercover car mod, which at least allows you to use emergency lights on any vehicle :)

I've tried that before but it usually leads to a bugged game, I think there is more I must do to it aside from that, but I don't know what else to do besides that.

ELS supports all vehicles, I know this for a fact, as if the vehicle is equipped to handle ELS, you just add it to the ELS file that lists all other police vehicles already there and the ELS will work, giving it police lights and siren. But that wasn't the problem. And I did add it to the added cars section, but it still does not allow me to pull over suspects or use the police computer, so it may be a bug on LCPDFR's part then. And I have to use vehicles that are not in police slots, there isn't enough police vehicles in GTA IV to make up for all the ones I wanted to add, in EFLC there is, but that is even more unstable for me than GTA IV original is so yeah, not going near that one. ELS already handles the emergency lights, but that is not what I am asking for. I am asking for how to make it so you can make a vehicle stop spawning in traffic, if not only spawn with police peds, and how to make it so non-police cars by default can actually pull people over and access the computer, as originally stated, does not work simply by adding it to the LCPDFR file for some reason, so there must be another way to do it then I guess. But well, thanks anyways for your input then I suppose.

If you're not using them already (I might not have noticed if you said so), are you using police3/4 and the bike slot?  That's about the last thing I can suggest.  Also if you haven't tried it already, try using the emergency1-4 slots and see what gives.

What are you talking about? Emergency 1-4 slots what are those? And aren't police3, 4, and b only in TBoGT? I am using the standard GTA IV for the modding, not EFLC.

Well, if I could paste into the reply box, you'd be in business.  Simply put, google "TBOGT Vehicles to IV", the right one is on gtainside.com, rename your car's .wft and .wtd to "police4", and then use SparkIV or OpenIV to insert your police4 files into vehicles.img.

So though GTA IV does not have many police slots, you are saying that I can rename any vehicle to police 3, 4, and b, and insert them into the vehicles.img and they will work as police vehicles just like that? But then couldn't you make that infinite like go to police 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, etc.? And where do these emergency 1-4 slots come in? What are they? Please tell me more, I am intrigued.

GTA IV, as a game, has a set list of vehicles related directly to the game.  GTA IV only treats police vehicles as what it has defined.  So, while you can add a virtually infinite amount of cars, you still have to define some parameters (such as in-game name) as a vehicle that already exists.  The police vehicles in GTA IV include: fbi, police, police2, police3, police4, polpatriot, pstockade, noose, and nstockade.
