I had exactly the same problem.

Just crashes to desktop after a few minutes of gameplay correct?

"GTA IV.EXE Has stopped working"

I went into control panel and clicked on "Change" then "Repair"

I then deleted all traces of my savegames.

Haven't tested if it works yet. But give that a go if you can

If it doesn't work, let me know. I've got another solution

This is the number one reason I hate computers. One day they all work and nothing is wrong. Next day they screw up. I had issues with my GTAIV. I ran a virus scan and disk drive cleaner. My problem was solved. Maybe it will work for you.

Visit me on youtube. The most common reason for crashing is user error. Make sure you have the latest RAGE, ScripthookV, ScripthookVdotnet and turn off your antivirus. Make sure you have an up to date gameconfig.xml as well. Use Allbo's plugin troubleshooter to find any errors too.

When I get on my PC later I'll post a solution that involves registry editing. It's proven successful for many people who have issues with San Andreas even after re-installing
