Martin Luther king jr Day

Featured Replies

I would just like to take a moment here and recognize Martin Luther King jr for his amazing accomplishments and the wonderful speech he gave at Washington, his speech still remains one of the most influential and wonderful speech anybody has ever given. It is important to remember that without him we may have never overcome racism.

But I sit next to a White kid in class, and I'm Black. I'd say that's some serious progress considering how our country used to be.

I'd say we've made progress, but we're nowhere near overcoming racism. We're far from it. Especially in the south. Publicly, there's progress made, but a ton of people in SC, GA, and AL (That I know for certain) are still racist. Not to blacks, but now it's hispanics.

I agree. I traveled to North Carolina last Summer with my family. We visited a very agricultural area, and the number of weird looks we got was overwhelming. The entire town was either White or Black, and the majority of the town was White. We also saw Confederate flags arching from almost every building, yet not a single American flag was in sight.

Happy Birthday Brother I love you. While I may not had of agreed with your politics,(More of a Malcolm X man) you were a very intelligent man king and you made me so proud to be black. I love you MLK and happy birthday. MAY God continue to bless you in Heaven.

Racism Is not something that we can completely rid ourselves from.  It is a personal thing that people keep to themselves forms from generation to generation. in fact our history books ensure's that we remember it. I too sometimes find myself saying alot of racial things about white's I  not proud of it but sometimes it just comes out. See with all due respect to white people, I believe that there is a difference between crackers and white people.
