  • First you say 9/11 was an inside job, now you say Obama is a puppet? Oh come on Obama is not a horrible president, at least he is trying to do something for the community. What's next the moon landing

  • Education is always a step in the right direction, and free education for those that are willing to work toward it would undoubtedly be a wonderful thing to a significant number of people.   Call me

I'm baffled at the level of ignorance in your comment dude... I have no response, I'm just baffled.

Provides no evidence whatsoever to these claims, yet you still think you're right.

Another claim that's true: This thread's topic is "Obama to propose free community college program," not "Barack Obama: Is he a good president?"

MODERATOR NOTICE

This thread is about the proposed community college subsidy. It is not about the NDAA, drone strikes, Benghazi, or any other thing whose only connection to education is "Obama/the federal government has something to do with it." Any further off-topic responses will be hidden.

Education should be cheap no matter what level.  Education is one of the fundamental basics that drives a country and the economy.  Canada is better than the U.S. for tuition costs but it's still far from good.  I've physically had to take a couple years off after High School to save some money for college or else I'd be screwed beyond belief.

While everyone is bowing up about Obama and such. The positives that have happened in the last few years. Also i doubt it will lower the value of a 2 year degree. You still need to work hard, learn and earn it. Countries all over the world offer free or very cheap schooling. I think it will be great. When i graduated high school in 2010 i only had 2 options being in the middle class with parents that worked paycheck to paycheck. Buy a car and work full time or go to college and put myself in mass debt for at least the rest of my 20`s.I chose to work, move out and buy a new car.College should not cost as much as it does. It`s just as much of a racket as the health care system in this county. Not talking about Obama Care because that system does work when you look at the facts and statistics.

Education wouldn't as expensive as it is if the federal government hadn't taken over student loans. Schools can charge insane amounts of money because the loans are backed up by the federal government. I go to school in-state, so things aren't as expensive as they could have been. I would have been looking at $40,000+ per year versus the ~$20,000 I'm paying instead.
