I had the same error, but luckily I had another copy of GTA IV. Just download from this link: https://www.mediafire.com/?o8444lllguayti4and just paste savegame.fr in your GTA IV directory and it should work.

I cant help you with your crashing, but deleting your savegame.fr and oldgame.fr is okay and each time you restart the game it will regenerate a new saved game point, but it sounds like you are stuck in a loop of a crash point.  I would delete both files in your main directory and also in your LCPDFR config file, turn off the save game.  This will start over from scratch.  You can choose to turn on your savegame again if you wish, but so far, the save game has been quite problematic for many, because the game saved just before a crash or during a crash.  This only loops the game back into a crash.

Now if you want savegame on, just delete those two files and turn off your savegame to get back into a clean game.  Then quite and turn on savegame again in your config file.  Should fix the looping crash.

Do all this at your own discretion.  I did it on my game and everything worked fine, but I still choose to keep the savegame off, because it hasn't really worked well for me in most if not all cases.

So simply just got into lcpdfr.ini find the save game change it to False and delete the savegame.fr from the main game directory and I should be good?

The correct way to fix this issue, (I had it myself) is to delete all save games in your C:/users/you/appdata/local/rockstar games/GTA IV/savegames. Delete all the folders and yes this will require you to start all over again but if you just play GTA IV for lcpdfr like me you only have to complete the first mission. Drive to Romans skip the dialogue and walk outside to get over the annoying pop ups that tell you how to eat a hot dog. Go back and save your game in the bed upstairs. Wahlah you have a working lcpdfr again.

I would note that I never had this issue before installing to 1.0d. It seems that something in there corrupted all of my save games.

As always do this at your own risk!

So do what I did and what you said then Re-Download it and then just save it in-game sounds like a good deal!

That was the very first thing I did, the whole save game thing did not appeal to me and I turned it off immediately. No matter what I did I got the insta crash upon loading the game and lcpdfr told me it wasn't it's fault etc. delete all save games and starting over was the only way that is fixed it for me.

Yah, I just played and it said " Save Game Not Found, LCPDFR not problem" or whatever. And I deleted my GTA IV Folder then deleted the local properties in the steam library, and deleted the appdata save game.

well you were only supposed to delete the save game folders in the appdata but deleting local files from steam uninstalls your game entirely. Start over I guess.

I told you, you should have done what I was saying first.  My way was a quick fix that is a common known issue and has been fixing peoples games every day.  Deleting your savegames would have been a last resort.  Best of luck.  You also dont have to delete your savegame folder, you could have just cut a paste the folder out and tried that way keeping your files on the desktop or something and if it didn't work, which it obviously didn't you could have just put the savegame folder right back in.  I guess my advice went unnoticed.  Best of luck.

The LCPDFR savegame is in no way related to the original GTA IV savegame. If the Error Reporter opens, your game has crashed and it will then attempt to get your last LCPDFR session running. This is not connected to your GTA IV savegame and deleting those won't help. If the Error Reporter can't find a savegame, that's nothing to worry about. LCPDFR then just hasn't saved itself.

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

Man I tried everything else and it didn't work. I know you don't have to delete your save game but here is what was happening.

Els V8 and 1.0d didn't play along so nice, I would make a change in a slot.ini in the ELS folder and it would completely corrupt my save game. I figured out by deleting the save game I could at least get the game to load without crashing. No ones advice is end all be all so you shouldn't approach it that way.

I have all the lcpdfr save stuff turned off, I don't want or need it. ELS and lcpdfr were causing an error that would corrupt my gta iv save game. Deleting it and starting over fixed it everytime.
