Graphics Card Issue....

Featured Replies

I haven't had my computer on in a few day's and i turned it on a few hour's ago and i could feel my computer getting hot, i took the side off too see if it was the graphic's card getting hot (i've been a cook for 6 year's so i have no feeling in my finger tip's) so i can't tell how hot the card is, my screen resolution somehow changed itself miraculously, and when i turn the video mode up in-game it say's "out of range" what's going on?? i didn't have this issue last week :(

Graphic's Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 6790

Use a program such as HWmonitor to check your temps (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html). the graphics card temps should appear near the bottom of the list. Post the temps here, both when idle and when under load.

It could either be the screen resolution or the refresh rate causing the out of range problem, did you change the settings back to how they were before?

it say's my GPU is at 73 C? good or bad?

Mmm, to me, I wouldn't say good.....it is likely to cause crashes after 30-45 minutes of gameplay since it is also related to your system Fan.

Go to the Graphics card manufacturer and get the tuning program.

If it's ATI get the catalyst driver it has a fan speed controller.

Nvidia has one called Ntune

If your fan is dead get a zalman heatsink/fan to replace it.

If your are experiencing more problems, you might just want to try this:

Take the side cover off and check if the CPU fan is operating.

You may need to replace it. TURN of the POWER and unplug.

While you have the cover off check that the Heat sink is not full of dust and dirt,If it is remove the fan, remove the heat sink Give it a good clean. When you reinstall make sure you use new heat sink paste between your CPU and the heat sink.

Replacement fans are not expensive and are a lot cheaper than a new CPU.

Hope this is relevant to your problems. :geek:
