  • I'm for it. Unfortunately SOME people hear the word "felon" and immediately picture some guy with full body tats, who is a kiddie rapist, or murderer. There's a lot of crimes that you can commit that

Oh thank you so much, You don't know how much that meant to me.  Yes I am doing my best to reform felons. I feel that for every felon I help form crime can decrease. Again thank you again. Hopefully i

Why should we take the time and money away to "rehabilitate" criminals? Save the money for more important things.

You say this as if the US Prison system is a good use of our money. I'd rather pay to have honest people who are basically f***ed for the rest of their lives to get a job and what not, than to pay for the housing and care of some asshole who's been given multiple chances to not sell drugs, murder or gangbang and whatever.

:) Your opinion but remember the more criminals on the street the more officers who's live are in danger. Why not help them and make your job easier to give you and other officers a bigger chance to return home to their families. And if officer sign this petition it would show that officers are not against the people. Help us so we can help you come on man.

Like what? Giving the senators more money?

We should take the time and money away to rehabilitate criminals because we already take the time and money to rehabilitate drug addicts and alcoholics.

Criminals have no less of a right to rehabilitation than anyone else on this earth. Some criminals are genuinely interested in bettering themselves and moving on, but due to the limitations of society they aren't able to.

Such a selfish bastard, have some sympathy.

because felons had sympathy when they committed the crimes they were found guilty of..   this is nuts, I would literally be scared if i knew my local police department was hiring Ex-Felons..  I mean for other jobs hell yeah, a car mechanic that's an ex felon I'm somewhat Ok with but a Person who's job is to protect people against people who do the same shit that person has done in the past is not something i want to see in this country. Especially when People are calling for Tighter restrictions on who can be cops as it already stands i.e. Psychological tests, etc.  Which by the way let me note that Federal Law prohibits anyone who has a Felony Conviction on their Record to Buy or Obtain a Gun Legally so what would we do about that? give them tasers? if that's even legal for felons? this idea really worries me with all of the criticism towards police right now Allowing Felons to join the force wouldn't be in the best interests of the People at all and in my opinion it would be a stupid move for any police department in terms of public image if not other things as well.

I hate to be that guy or (hater) but really, im genuinely Worried about a scenario like this actually playing out somewhere and if i lived that area i would move out immediately

What are you getting at? Not every criminal deserves to have there rights taken away, sir please understand that I do agree with that, it's clear here you did not understand my post, where did I say the felons where innocent, nice going strawman.

Sir, I'm going off of Pure experience I've been Victim to Felony Crimes before, I have family members who have been through it, And let me tell you that a LARGE majority of the Criminals you speak of do these Crimes over and Over again. The Prisons have been trying to rehab inmates for years and it never works.. If we spend so much on housing them why spend thousands extra telling them something the Courts, Wardens, and Prison Guards Do when they do the time anyway?  and it seems you feel sorry for these people, which is where we disagree I understood your post completely i just didn't agree at all.. if they had felt Sympathy for the Victims of the Crimes before they Did the Crimes they wouldn't be in the Position they're in and also if you haven't read the edit to my post before you quoted it i explained my views a bit better im not saying take their rights away, but certainly don't give them 100% freedom back if they've already proved they aren't trustworthy with it.

And also a criminal who doesn't deserve to have their rights taken away, Shouldn't be a Criminal in my Opinion

Okay, now I understand, here i will restate my post, as what I said on the first page, only those who deserve the second chance that they may get it. But for the most part I'am against felons. Also I would like to say that what pavelow said, the US needs to do better job on how they classify felons. Hope we can agree on that. :)

Certainly. i can agree with this. the only thing i have a problem with is the whole ex-felons on the Police force's and on that little mini-topic I Don't care what kind of felony it is, Cops need to have squeaky Clean Records i don't care what you did, we need to be able to trust our cops, and alot of people don't already as it is.. I'm not one of those people..   But like i said before if i knew there we're Ex-felons on the Police department in my area i would be scared to run across those officers in particular that's all im saying
