In my opinion, things can't get better than Third Watch. They had great actors (Jason Wiles!!!) portaying great characters (Bosco!!!), great dialogue and always interesting plots. It's a shame that it's not out on DVD (the first two seasons were released a few years ago, but that was pretty much it)...

As for Southland, it is pretty much the same as TW, with concentrating on the patrol officer's work, but there are also some detectives playing a major role in the series (just like Faith and Jelly did in TW's last season).

@Molten: Southland's first two seasons have been released on DVD and can be found on amazon (although I don't know about amazon.co.uk, I'm afraid)
