The importance of wearing a helmet in combat.

Featured Replies

Good thing he had his helmet on, or that would have ended badly. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like these Marines' are inexperienced with combat. I've never been into combat, but comparing this video to the tens of others I've watched, these guys just seem a bit confused.

That was extremely lucky.

Reminds me of this...

Idk if i would say inexperienced, confused maybe. When you are taking sniper fire from an undisclosed location, its very disorienting, especially when your squad mate takes a bullet to the head. Personally from experience, i would say that they did the right thing. Remove the threat (get away from the door to a secure area) Assess the damage (check to see if it was only a helmet strike) Counter (go out the back and hunt that f***er down). Although from a snipers perspective, he missed. It looks like he shot him in the top of the helmet. Six inches lower wouldve been in the middle of his forehead. On top of that, you never stack in a doorway, and this is why.

True, I agree that they did the right thing. My only concern was that they seemed a bit "in the moment" when it happened. Everyone just sort of went silent and nothing happened for a good 5 seconds, then everyone lazily fell back into the compound. I do agree that they followed protocol, but I think that they were a bit confused on what was actually happening for a bit, which is to be expected here.

Yea, its mighty confusing when you get shot. I got shot in Afghanistan right in the middle of my back with my vest on. Hurt like hell, but i was dazed for a second or so. Now i have no feeling in that spot as it killed the nerve endings. Hes lucky it wasnt a bigger round. Most likely was a 5.56 or something around there

I've seen countless people here post gifs, where do you get these form?

Also fun fact: at the beginning of world war 1, soldiers didn't wear helmets, which resulted in them either being killed or maimed by artilry shells, Scary stuff.
