Oy, I haven't made a backup of my Default cars BEFORE I add in my modded cars.

Is there a way I can put default cars back to vehicles.img now?

If not, should I Re-install SparkIV and install it again? Would that give me a fresh start to default cars?

Since I have no idea now, I want to take my modded cars out, and just replace them back to Default cars so I have more GB to put in other modded cars. And yes, I understand you can't take out modded cars, only replacing them. So I am thinking to make them Default again, just like the beginning, and so for that I can start over and put in my modded cars into the Replacement slot that I want...

When I first installed GTA IV I copied the vehicles.img file and placed it on my desktop. So that way I don't have to re-install everytime I want the default vehicles in I just copy back in the main GTA IV folder.

So to answer your going to have to re-install. But this time keep a copy of the original vehicles.img file.

If I'm not mistaken, this section is really more for LCPD:FR support than general GTA stuff.

Basically, that has nothing to do with SparkIV, Spark IV is just somethign that lets you open up the .img files and modify them. Sorta like how, you can use Word of Open Office to open and modify a .doc file.

Just wondering, if you're using Steam, it should be possible to get those files back via that. That way is likely the surest and safest method if you ask me to getting those files back. Just make sure you back up the other files that you don't want changed (you know, for just in case.)

Ay, I am so confuse now. What should I un-install? Just SparkIV itself? Will that get rid of all my modded cars ? <-- (And yes, thats what we want to do, hehe)

And can you guys please give me a link where to download SparkIV? I really forgot and don't know which SparkIV Version to download now...a link would help me, thanks!

You'll have to reinstall the entire game to replace the vehicles.img if you haven't backed it up.

No members of this forum should be willing to send you a copy of their own file as I do not believe it is legal.

Really? Why isn't it possible to just reinstall SparkIV and take all the mods out? Its like having a original game with no mods....correct...?

Edit: And would it be legal or still okay to do if I already completed the WHOLE entire game?

SparkIV is nothing but a tool to access the vehicles.img. Think of it as just a can opener to open the vehicles.img can. Getting a new can opener will do nothing to change the contents of the can. You need to go back to the shops and get a replacement original can (install gta iv).

And the legality lies in the communication (distribution) of Rockstar's content that they have exclusive rights to.

Yes there is! Just go to your "Grand Theft Auto IV" folder and then select "GTAIV". Once you are in that folder you should see a folder called "pc", click on that and then there should be a "models" folder. Open that and then at the bottom, second last you should see vehicles. Replace that with your default vehicles disk image file. Hope that helped!

You're missing the point here. He forgot to backup his vehicles.img file before putting modded cars in the game. Because of that, he can't go back to the default car because like Ekalb so rightly put it, reinstalling sparkIV won't change anything to the game's data itself because SparkIV is just the "can opener". I'm afraid you have no choice but to reinstall the entire game or, if you bought GTA via Steam, restore the game via Steam.

A hard lesson just about everyone has to learn. No matter how many times the read me file says back up before modding people don't until this happens. Myself and hundreds of others had to learn the same way.

Any file you mod, make sure you back up the origional. I keep an entire copy of the game in another place. That way I have every origional file I could want.

Spot on, yet again The moral of this story is backup your files before modding people or do as Molten does and backup your entire game folder to be sure!

i've done it more times playing with a bunch of different mods then i should prob say its been at least like 6-7 times reinstalling gta4
