Me and ELS

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I just wanted to ask a quick question about the ELS mod. The last time I installed it, everything went mental and I had to reinstall.

Is ELS totally safe to use (E.g - No random crashes) if I use the right car models?

Well, I guess it probably depends on what cars are using ELS. Fact of the matter is, I cannot say for sure that it will crash 0% of the time. There was an update to ELS v6 a few months back however that fixed the major stability issues. As long as you don't mod vehicles that spawn a lot (police, police2, ambulance, firetruck), it should be fine.

**EDIT: Not sure about the ambulance and firetruck...It may only be vehicles that LCPDFR uses (the police ones).

You will never get 100% chance of no crashes when using ELS or any other mods. That's something you have to take into account when modding.

As gnat326 said, when replacing vehicles that spawn a lot, you increase the risk of random crashes. In my experience, I get an occiasional crash once in a while with almost every police car modded to an ELS one except police.wtd and AI ELS turned off. However, these crashes are rare and don't spoil my gaming experience.

I would advise not to turn AI ELS on since I experienced way more crashes when enabled.

ELS can't be 100% crash proof. No mods can.

It looks as if it heats my laptop up. Surely a few flashing lights can't overheat it... ;)

I only want to go to the ELS side of things so that I can have more of BxBugs' models. :D

Of course it does, ELS rapidly spawns and deletes the extras of a car, it is like asking your browser to load 30 tabs and then close them EVERY second. It stresses out even the high end computers, but they can often handle it.

Nothing is 100% crash proof, especially in this poorly ported game!

You are using the WRONG right theme!

Exactly. I find ELS crashes all the time. I resorted to my police 1 and 2 model be NON els, just to help out when I call for backup. ELS is awesome, but can never be crash proof...for now muahahah lol

I would like to know how you turned AI ELS off..

I would like to know how you turned AI ELS off..

Ai_ELS_SP = 1

Change the number "1" to a zero "0" to turn AI ELS off.

This line is found in ELS.ini

Also it's worth making the distinction that it's not the ELS program that causes crashes but as Sniper pointed out, the way it works, causing parts of the model to reload several times a second that puts a strain on PC's. And many PC's including high end can sometimes run into issues with this method.

Will this stop the 3 star game crash?

My understanding of the 3 star problem is when you get 3 stars the game send out Noose is it ? I can't recal. Anyway the problem lies in spawning the model the game sends when 3 stars is achieved. So if your game crashes when you call for noose back up it will prob crash when you get 3 stars as well.

This can be for a number of reasons. The noose model itself, or the noose model being ELS enabled. Or something else entirely I havent thought off :)

Turning off AI ELS can solve some peoples problems. I myself reverted to using the standard noose cruiser. I use a non els nstockade and that seems to be fine. Everyone will be different but me it was the ELS noose cruiser model causing issues.
