1.0c Suspect Transport crash

Troy

Recommended Posts

Playing on 1070. Calling for suspect transport crashes the script essentially everytime. What I tried:
- Kicking out ELS isn't a solution like I read on some other similar thread.
- Shuffling/replacing transporter models in the .img AND .ini. Problem still reproducible.
- Double checked the semi colons after model names in .ini.
- Tried setting Preloadallmodels = True but it seems this feature has been discontinued in the latest version.

No traces of the issue in any other .ini files. Only the LCPDFR log records this f@#k up:

Hi,

First things first. saying this is the "biggest crock of horsh!t ever" isn't going to make people want to help you. You didn't pay for this modification, you are not entitled to support and if you feel the mod is bad, don't install it.

Your error is this:

[ERROR - 1:23:30 PM] [] System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

This can happen for a whole host of reasons, so why don't you try giving us some more information?

Legal copy of the game?

What other mods are you using?

Have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it on a clean copy?

You failed to read the instructions before posting in this forum. So we'll remind you of them.

Please do the following:

  • Make sure you aren't using a crack - We don't support cracks
  • Update GTA IV to 1.0.7.0 (the latest version of the game, or 1.1.2.0 for EFLC) - This sometimes fixes a wide variety of issues
  • Make sure that you run the game as an administrator.
  • Make sure that your GTA IV root folder (and every subdirectory) is not set to "read-only"
  • Ensure that ScriptHook.dll, ScriptHookDotNet.asi and Dsound.dll OR Xlive.dll are in the GTA IV ROOT folder
  • Ensure that there is a folder titled 'LCPDFR' in the ROOT GTA IV folder.
  • Check that all the above files exist, if they do not, reinstall LCPDFR with the MANUAL installation.
  • Ensure that you are using up to date versions of every LCPDFR dependency and LCPDFR itself.
  • Install these: .Net Framework 4.5Microsoft Visual C++ Redist 2012

If your problem has been solved after following these basic instructions, hit 'Mark Solved' next to this post.

If not, please now reply to this thread, and make sure that you do the following:

  • Give a clear, detailed description of the problem.
  • Explain any circumstances surrounding the problem.
  • State what solutions you have tried.
  • Post ALL relevant logs (LCPDFR.log, Scripthook.log, ScriptHookDotNet.log, AdvancedHook.log).
  • Include as much information as possible.
  • Post your system specifications.
  • Post what other mods you are using. This includes car and script mods.

Please note that failure to follow these instructions may cause this thread to be closed.

I'm not sure what made you believe that my last sentence was pointed towards the mod and not the problem itself.

I have been playing LCPDFR since 0.91 came out and have solved all my modding-related issues pretty much on my own since then. I play on a heavily modded GTA:IV copy with LCPDFR installed and all version have worked fine for me until now. Some time ago I had an issue with my windows 7 and I had to reinstall it. That is when 1.0c came out. So, I am basically an advanced and experienced user and have been playing with mods since a long time but this one has left me stumped. I reinstalled the windows again to check if windows was causing this but its acting all the same even in EFLC. As mentioned in the OP, I have checked all other logs but no .inis seem to have any record of this problem except the LCPDFR log. My system specs are:
i7 2600k @ 3.4GHz
nVIDIA GTX560Ti 1GB custom OC'ed by myself
8 GB RAM with heatsink
Corsair TX750W V2 PSU

Hope that info is enough and sums everything up?

My apologies then, the way in which you phrased it made it seem like a reference to the mod itself rather than specifically this crash. I appreciate crashes can anger people, but perhaps a good idea would be to give it a minute or 2 and then post to avoid "rage posting" as I like to call it. But now we've cleared that up, no issues.

Ok, so my advice at this point would be to try it on a clean install of GTA IV. You mention it is heavily modded, well I'm sure you're aware in your experience that version 1.0 of LCPDFR is much more demanding than the legacy versions, and 1.0c did introduce new handling for crashes and more catches. I'm sure you're also aware that LCPDFR only supports an unmodded copy of the game so using other mods (like we all do) will destabilise it further.

Try it without any other mods, and if the problem happens again, come back and post exactly what you were doing.

No problemo. I hope after knowing, how long I been in this game and still not being able to solve this issue despite all approaches known to me AND scanning through for similar topics through the support section, you can understand that it pissed me off to a level that I posted that sentence, not realizing that it could've been misinterpreted really easy. Apologies from me too.

I just did what you recommended. I did a clean install of GTA IV but it is still happening (PS: I couldn't resist installing my police cars though and I swear they had worked with 1.0a fine before). Besides, I if it were the vehicles, I could've known because I always test drive a vehicle for long enough when I install it fresh in game for the first time to make sure it doesn't cause any issues. And like I said, I have already tried shuffling/replacing transporter models in the .img AND .ini. but the problem is still reproducible.

Brace yourselves guys. Since this one's sneaked past an experienced modder, its gonna be a tough one. Lets see who's up for some guessing game.

Just to be absolutely certain try it without your police cars installed. I know you said they always worked but, just try it anyway. That way we can eliminate them from the issue entirely.

Also, have you made any alteration to the LCPDFR.ini file? And what vehicles are you using?

Specifically these two lines:

AdditionalCopCarModels=
SuspectTransporterModels=POLICE;POLICE2;PSTOCKADE;

Yeah I was afraid of that. Just tried. Didn't work. All vehicles vanilla and the error still persists. Couldn't have been. I make my cars flawless and nearly perfect. There is no way that was happening because of them.

Just so anyone stumbles upon this thread:

I solved it. I tried a bulk of solutions at once that I came up with yesterday. Not sure which one did the trick:

- First, I completely uninstalled LCPDFR and all of its components and then reinstalled it fresh (I use manual).

- Then I changed the root folder's permissions by unchecking the 'Read-Only' attribute (I had tried it already but...)

- Then I installed LAA from here: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

-  And lastly, I ticked the GTA:IV.exe's 'Always Run As Admin' attribute.

Its most likely the first step which did the trick for me, but I'm not entirely sure.

No, sorry, looks like I jumped to the conclusion too early. The error popped up again after I changed the Suspect Transport entries in the .ini. After much trial and error, I have found that if I change the default entries in this attribute, I'm guaranteed to get this error. So, folks, don't change the default entries i.e. POLICE;POLICE2;PSTOCKADE if you're using 1.0c. This version freaks out if you change these values.
