I tried to get help with this earlier but I didn't get an answer I understood from the moderator who answered me and then closed my thread before anyone else could respond. I'm not trying to "necropost" (whatever that is), I'm sorry if this post is on the "wrong" page but I need help with LCPDFR and this seemed like the correct place to start since I'm asking for support with the mod. I'm not a computer programmer either so please respond to this request as though you are explaining something to a 5 year old, I wont get offended, I promise......lol. I'm just trying to get this thing to work properly so I can leave you all alone and play the game in peace. :)

 

I've installed the LA Emergency Vehicle Pack from the downloads section and also ELS 7. I'm assuming that the vehicles are ELS compatible, but the documentation didn't specify. None of my lights on the vehicles I have installed are working. Siren is good, just don't have any lights. I've tried this with ELS 7 and 8, and with neither, and no combination seems to work. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I would appreciate whatever help I can get to fix this issue. Sorry I'm such a know-nothing newb. Trust me, I wish I could figure it out on my own. Thanks.

Are you hitting the corresponding keys?

Make sure in your Slot_Control in the ELS FOLDER that you turn on ELS for the corresponding vehicle(s).

 

It *was* in the wrong section (LCPDFR Support Requests is only for issues with the mod itself; other IV issues go in IV Support Requests), but I've moved it for you.

 None of the keys work. I don't know where Slot_Control is. I looked in every folder that says ELS on it and I'm not seeing it.

If you don't see _SLOTCONTROL, and you downloaded ELS7, then you didn't move all the files downloaded from ELS7 to the GTA IV Root directory.

 

Delete any ELS file/folder in your GTA IV folder and redownload ELS. Download ELSv8 as it's the most recently updated version of ELS.

Damn that's weird.

You dont need to turn them all on. Just the ones that are using ELS.

Yes ELS7 vehicles should be compatible with ELS8.

make sure you moved all the files to your GTA IV folder from ELS8 download. Make sure you downloaded these: Net Framework 4.5, Microsoft Visual C++ Redist 2012

For some reason I'm not able to post screen shots or image links on these forum posts. Every time I click the link or image boxes above, it freezes up my screen. Anyway, I did notice that I have 2 GTA IV folders. There is the main game folder that has some LCPDFR files in it, then there is ANOTHER GTA IV folder inside the main which also has LCPDFR files in it. Is that normal? Not sure how it happened, but I'm thinking about uninstalling the game and starting fresh. Also, I downloaded GTA IV from Steam, but I made sure that I'm playing as administrator.....is there anything else about Steam version that would trip me up?

You could take a screenshot, save the picture and when you quote someone, at the bottom of the message box, it says Attach Files.

And you can upload your picture that way.

No that is not normal.

You're supposed to only have one GTA IV Folder.

A fresh install is recommended.

After you uninstall, delete the GTA IV Folders, then reinstall.

After that, make sure the game works then install LCPDFR.

Once that works, start adding mods, one at a time to ensure stability.

Ok, so I reinstalled the game, LCPDFR, ELS and the LA Emergency Pack of vehicles and cop skins (all into the correct folders and following the installation directions) and I'm still having the same issue. When I get to the vehicle select screen and hit enter to stay in the vehicle of my choice, I get random lights on the vehicle lighting up and staying lit, and I have no control over any of them, either using G or J, K, L. When I hit alt+M for the ELS panel, nothing happens. I am officially stumped at this point. I'm about ready to just play the game with no custom vehicles or lighting since it seems to play fine with no add ons. How do you uninstall vehicles etc that have been installed with Spark IV? Thanks.
