Desktop Not Booting To OS HELP!

Featured Replies

So today i decided to restore my main desktop to it's factory settings so i made backups of everything i wanted to keep then went to restore my PC. I have windows 8.1 so i went to the computer settings and went to the restore tab and selected the "Restore PC" setting which it said "Remove all files and apps and restore your PC to it's factory settings" well i selected this and it did the job to about 13% when it got there it loaded up some menus that said a few things like "Shut Down" "Restart and continue into windows 8.1" "Advanced options" ETC. So i clicked "Restart and continue to windows 8.1" well know the PC everytime i start it up it loads the "ASUS" logo then boots back into that MENU! i can't get it to boot back into the OS! Who knows how to fix this?

Use your (or burn one) Windows 8.1 disk to restore the possibly damaged operation system.

So basicly Torrent 8.1 and reinstall it? The only problem i have with this is the chance of viruses. I want to keep my Dekstop from getting damaged as much as i can.

If you have access to another 8.1 computer you should be able to create a repair disc.

Here's a guide from Microsoft http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/create-usb-recovery-drive

Ok i have a few questions.

1) The only other PC i have access to is one with windows 7. Can i make a restore disk with that and put it on my PC that has windows 8?

2) If the first answer is yes. Will viruses from this old computer carry over? (I'm a newb :P)

1) Not sure, try it though. Although if that computer has an OEM version of Win7 and has a different brand of motherboard than your 8.1 rig you won't be able to install it.

2) No.

I don't know if that will work.... but give it a shot.

I just torrented a copy of Windows 8.1 pro and am burning that do a disc so i'll see if this works. I kinda feel more safe installing the previous OS instead of a new one altogether

You're torrenting an OS....? Well, that's gotta be the safest option.

What OS was originally on your PC? If you restore to factory settings I believe there is a process within the PC's restore function to re-install it. Might be wrong.

I have no other choice than to torrent the OS. But i tried doing system restore it went to about 13% then gave me an error which i belive is what caused the error.
