[Annoying Horns.IVAUD Issue] A Horn Mishaps

Featured Replies

Hey guys, so, here I am again with another damned issue, which to most people I assume, would seem to be quite the average annoying modding issue when dealing with Horns.IVAUD. In this issue, the horn seems to work fine in GTA IV Aud Editor but when my friend tries it in his game, the horn, unless he is responding to a call, won't work. If he were to try and honk some idiot out of the way, all he'll hear is annoying clicks instead of the horn, not sure what I can do about it in Audacity. Can anyone give me a solution to this? Preferrably someone who's had experience with this, maybe a developer.

This issue is caused by the length and frequency of the tone. GTA IV is very temperamental and unless everything is spot on, you're guaranteed that something is going to bug out.

The airhorn tone should last no longer than a second and the frequency of the tone should be set to 44100Hz (this frequency varies on the other tones though and sometimes must be lowered or raised). Audacity can be a tricky program to use when it comes to dealing with frequencies, so I'd recommend using a program called GoldWave, the free trial limits to 500 actions per session, but this should be more than enough for GTA IV sirens.

I've now bought the full version, so now, its time to find out how to do this...

Omg, can't even do this...I downloaded a code 3 mastercom airhorn and because the original siren creator of the horns.ivaud file, couldn't get it to work because they weren't sure of the format of it, I was going to try and fix it so that we could use it.

I've even tried replacing it with other airhorns from other code 3 mastercom's on lcpdfr but he still hears the clicks and that's it...like wth!

Can someone give me instructions on how to fix it or give me picture spoilers of how maybe, just to ease the process?

Like I said above, it's a frequency issue. You need to set the tone to 44100Hz. To do this is GoldWave, select the entire clip, click on the effects drop down menu and then click on re-sample. When saving, make sure it's set to .wav PCM signed 16 bit, mono.

Depending on the frequency of the other tones, setting the frequency to 44100Hz won't always work, and you'll need to lower or increase the Hz rate.
