Curved lettering with Paint.net?

Featured Replies

I've personally found paint.net to be one of the worst editors for text, I'd make your own in another program, save as PNG or whatever, and then transfer it in.

I really wish Paint.net would add better text support.

I use P.N for all my textures.  The way I have done it is to open a separate blank canvas and drag a large circle or whatever shape curve you're trying to achieve, then make the text in a line and individually select, move and rotate them using the shape in a different layer as a guide.  If you're really having a hard time PM me and I can help you through TeamViewer.

The easiest way that I have been told is to select one letter at a time and rotate it while selected.

I think you use the rectangular selection tool thingy to select the letter and then there should be a rotate button.

Then, once you are done with that, you select all the text again with the selection tool.

I haven't used Paint in forever, but I think that is how you do it.

By the way, Google is your friend :D

The question was about Paint.NET, not MS Paint.

I beleve that he was talking about Paint.NET.

Here is a tutorial that I copied and pasted from their support forum:

STEP ONE:

type your text on a new layer with a space between each letter (if the font has a nice-sized gap between the letters, you dont need the space)

STEP TWO:

select one letter at a time with the rectangle select tool pdn35icons.RectangleSelectToolIcon.png. the, using the move selected pixels tool pdn35icons.MoveToolIcon.png, rotate each letter with right click, and move them to where you need them. flatten the image pdn35icons.MenuImageFlattenIcon.png

THANKS VERY MUCH!

These plugins are just what I needed and more.

Glad I could help.

I've not used the curved text plugin yet but use the rotate text all the time when re-skinning vehicles
