Windows Vista laptop?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I have a Windows Vista Home Premium that meets all the requirements in able to play GTA IV. The only thing is that it is a laptop and doesn't have a video card. Does any of you know if that would matter or not? I can NOT wait to play some LCPDFR.

Windows Vista (plus Service Pack 1)

Processor: 2.5 GHz Core i5-2450M

RAM: 6 GB DDR3

Hard Drive: 500 GB

Graphics Coprocessor: Integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000

Your graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirements. It may run, but it's going to perform very poorly. You also shouldn't have made another topic for this, you already have one asking about specs that plenty of people responded to.

I think it's about time that you upgraded to windows 8. Have you thought about getting an new laptop/desktop? I would build an gaming desktop, but then you might just be happy by getting another laptop that can run GTAIV and even GTAV when it comes out on PC

Yeah sorry I just want to know EVERYTHING before i download it because if i download the game and it doesnt work then its worthless. So i decided not to use laptop and use a real desktop that i forgot about in my basement.

By the way, @unr3al, you've been a big help! :)

It's similar circumstances to your laptop. Both have integrated graphics which is just terrible to be honest. As unr3al said, you'd maybe be able to run it but it'd be really laggy.

If you plan on running LCPDFR: 1.0+, then you'd need to reconsider the operating system on the desktop - 1.0 doesn't support XP.

The RAM on the desktop falls far below what is required to run the game (1.5GB). I'd honestly recommend you upgrade to a better system to 'future-proof' your computer.

Also, you said you were going to download the game, is that through Steam or another such-like service?

I was kind of planning to download it on steam but i'm not sure. Do you think I can just put a better graphics card in my computer or will it not accept it? If I can't what type of desktop should I get? I would get alienware but its just too much money for me.

I think your computer is a tad too old to work with any of the newer cards. I suggest looking for videos on YouTube for "gaming computers" under your budget. This seems to be a decent one. You should definitely check it out!:

THANKS SO MUCH! The only thing is I don't want to build a computer. My limit for desktops are $400. That isn't really a lot but I was looking on walmart website and ran into this.

I was thinking since it was a windows 8 I was just going to skip over it but I saw the reviews and some people said it was a great gaming computer but I need your opinion since you know all the things needed to get lcpdfr working.

The desktop in your basement is even worse and that Walmart PC is a waste of money. It has no graphics card and even if you put a good one in, the poor CPU would bottleneck its performance. Save up another $300-400 then buy a reasonable one.
