Peds on Parole

Featured Replies

I think when you check the ID of a ped there should something that says on parole or not. I never really search the trunk of any vehicles or frisk suspects, so I think if someone just ran a green and has no warrants or anything, now if they are on parole we can search them and the vehicle instead of just giving them a warning or a citation.

Technically, simply being on parole is no reason to search a person unless he violated his parole. That can be described in warrants description, if they'll be ever introduced.

I search everyone who does something harsher then the red light run. An hour ago met a nice old lady with stolen credit cards driving Shafter. Oh, those rich people...

Ohh my bad i guess, because when I watch COPS or some other show I thought they usually search the guy further if he's on parole

I actually thought you can be searched, or your vehicle could be searched if it was in the terms of your parole or what ever. I'm probably wrong.

Veni vidi vici

Could be added to the ID check, when calling in an ID from the car or on foot.  Would be a nice touch.

I too always see the police toss a guy and his car every time there is a probationer or parolee, when watching COPS.  I kind of assume it's an automatic red flag for the fuzz to search.  Sometimes it drive me nuts when five cops toss a guys car for two segments, find a tiny piece of weed and arrest the poor guy, who's done nothing more than turn onto a one-way street without a blinker.  Seems kind of harsh for such a minor violation.

Well, actually, that's the key - whether terms of parole include an agreement to be subject to unwarranted search. Most states' laws do include that, however state courts, like in Pennsylvania or California, do not approve this and still believe officers had to have a probable cause to search a parolee.

On the other hand, the wonderful Supreme Court always reverses in such cases, usually never explain why.

Oh, sorry for so much offtopic, OP :(

Np all this stuff is technically on topic. So in certain states the police can conduct unwarranted searches if a person is on parole, without probable cause?

I know this is from a few years back but I don’t know why this is not a thing yet... Probation or parole and they have special terms on they’re probation like search and seizure or known gang member and can’t be around other known gang members this would go great for bejoijos compulite.
